He's supposed to be fighting soft opposition and this stage and learning from different styles.

It will be quite a while before an opponent enters the ring with Ajagba who has a realistic chance to win.
The lad needs rounds. That's when you up the level. He's had all but two fights stopped inside the first. Time to up the ante. I think Wallisch can provide some rounds, at least I hope so.
At this stage I think promoters are more eager for Ajagba to establish a reputation as a monster rather than have him lumber through rounds before putting an opponent away.

I'd want to hook the fans by making him a must-see KO attraction before you start worrying about building up his stamina and experience by going deeper into fights.

It's true that Ajagba wasn't really on the radar before the Harper bout last year, so he could be in for a lengthy "selling" process before the opponents become somewhat credible.

I want to see Efe, Mak, Hrgović, Rivas, Dubois facing A/A+ opponents as soon as possible. :bag:

All my favorite prospects (I like Rivas, but I don't think he's a prospect anymore)! Me too, but the wait will be worth it. Hrgovic is the first we'll see making noise.

I'm skeptical that Wallisch is really a step-up from Mansour, rather than a step down. But either way, I don't think this fight is a waste of time, because Ajagba has only (professionally) fought one opponent so far who was around Wallisch's class. Good practice before Ajagba goes after a top 50 opponent.

i dont see anyone complaining about this, i just question that its really a step up in terms of what efe will be facing in the ring rather then just on paper, watch wallischs last fight, i dont see him hanging tough and giving rounds like roddy hernandez did.. has the look of a guy there to be stopped early

Efe has had a lot of unnecessary hype on this forum since that guy walked out on the fight. Who even spoke about Efe on here before then?

Let him take it easy. I’m liking that he’s keeping active unlike most HW’s. Work his way up through the opposition. A few good names. Make a bigger name for himself. After 20 fights, we can see then.
You're absolutely right that Ajagba has no need to hurry, but I beg to differ that nobody was talking about Efe BEFORE Harper got DQd for leaving the ring before their fight started last August. There were threads on Ajagba 3 months before that, including this one with videos of Efe's KOs before the Harper "fight".

Wallisch may or may not be a step up from Mansour, but this will be Efe's 2nd bout in 7 weeks. That makes Ajagba one of the busiest HW prospects in boxing. That's especially impressive for a guy who is barely turning 25 the week of the Wallisch fight.

The more I consider it, the more I like it. Wallisch is a big body and is probably better than the Mansaur we saw vs Efe. Another test for the kid, but not a real difficult one, if we are correct about him. Makhmudov is really exciting me especially after his demolition of Avery Gibson. These two could be on a path to face each other late 2020. Who knows?

Easy win for Ajajba. Once Wallisch feels his power he will look for a way out.

Hard to argue with that although that is not a criticism of the matchmaking. Wallisch is a logical step and a decent fight on paper. Efe will ride right over him though.

pretty much went how i thought, though wallisch did at least put some punches together while it lasted

efe looks a beast but could do with more durable opponents. who does he spar i wonder. with how easy he wins hell need to be finding his learning through sparring atm

my biggest criticism would be that hes on the slow side (not joe joyce slow though) and looks a bit lumbering with his shots sometimes

Ajagba was manhandled with ease by Ivan Dychko, fought in very few amateur bouts and competed in only 34 minutes and 41 seconds of action in the pro ranks (i.e. the combined total time of all ten fights he's participated in).

Ajagba has just engaged in another mismatch against a severely overmatched fighter that was specifically chosen to be decimated within a couple of rounds or so.

The young Nigerian obviously needs time to learn his craft, which means he’ll inevitably keep facing journeyman road sweepers for the next couple of years.

Ajagba hasn’t accomplished anything that could possibly be considered as being remotely impressive at this point of his career. And this is an objective truth of reality rather than someone simply expressing a subjective opinion that is negative in nature.

Ajagba has bricks in his gloves but i have serious doubts about how he will look moving backwards or against fighters who can really box and move and turn him.
