Magee’s best year in the ring was in 2002 when he knocked out Jon Thaxton, a very good pro, to secure a crack at Hatton’s WBU light-welterweight title. He still drank six beers every Saturday night while training. “It was a wee prize at the end of the week but I was well prepared for Thaxton. With the Hatton camp, life was a party.”

It's a really good read. Paul Gibson and Eamonn dont appear to have spared the details.

Lynch, Finnegan brothers seem the obvious ones.
I see Galento has had a fair few mentions.
One guy I've not seen mentioned but is probably the poster boy for this is Bernard Superbad Mays. Alcoholic at 16 and dead by 33 due to drink.

Back in the day they would give struggling fighters champagne between fights to revive them. I read about Jim Driscoll doing it.

Former EBU heavyweight champ sinan samil sam died at 41 from alcohol related illness.
Still remember watching him beat up Danny Williams on bbc1. Was a bit of an upset at the time.
