You can not blame a serious contender for not having enough time to prepare for the fight.
No it is not Joshua's fault but it's not the contenders either
How can you be a serious contender if you don't stay ready?

Hearn claims that Joshua wants to face Ortiz as replacement for Miller. What do you think about this possibility ?
I think it's damn suspicious, like his handlers were afraid Miller would beat him and they'd lose their cash cow. Similar to how the Las Vegas drug crew suddenly found something on Povetkin right before his big fight with Wilder.

...an opportunity of a life time for a 40-year-old contender, shouldn't waste his time and jump at it..

I agree with you 100 %. If Ortiz can not be ready in June, he will never be ready to face Joshua.
Last, but not least - he will never earn "the big money" if he avoids this fight.

He may just be 'squeezing' Hearn for Miller money. Hearn really needs Ortiz for this.

Fighters need time to prepare. 6 weeks and 2 days no matter what kind of shape you keep yourself in is not enough.
The forum was up in arms when Wilder gave short notice to opponents because his opponent failed drug tests.
The sane standard applies. You have to have a full training camp to be a real threat.

I suppose that 6 weeks is quite enough.

These guys are HWs not LWs,if they are half sensible already then 6weeks is enough imo, unless you are seriously injured, have never had a pro fight or are retired then you should never decline a fight of this stature
We are all entitled to our opinions, you have yours I have mine, and I think it's a joke that these fighters have passed up the chance of a big fight
What they bin doing eating cheeseburgers, boozing & smoking for ages since they last fought
Fighters who are made of good stuff step in at short notice and give it their best it's as simple as that, those that arent wilt

nah, you keep yourself in shape between fights and 6+ weeks is plenty. very nice payday presumably too. for a guy like ortiz in the lattter stages of there career they should go for it.
the whole forum was up in arms about wilder giving short notice? r there threads for that
either way lets get rid of this fatty supporting mindset. stay in shape and 6+ weeks is fine esp when u dont need to make weight

I guess it's not ideal preparation but Ortiz hasn't got a lot of time. Title fight opportunities have to be grabbed when they present themselves if you're 40 (Cuban years) and you want a golden handshake from boxing.

Agreed. Can’t imagine Ortiz saying no to a legit offer.

Dazn is making pbc look frugal. If hearn low balled whyte to get Miller here. At this point it's just damage control to satisfy the traveling Brits for what was always going to be a massive financial flop.

I have no dilemma - Ortiz would be the best choice, considering Joshua's five men list (Ortiz, Pulev, Hunter, Charr, Kownacki) of potential opponents for June.
Pulev has no chance, because of his style. I can not imagine him to outjab Joshua, and jab is the best Pulev's weapon.
Hunter is to green at HW.
Charr might be somewhere between #25 and # 35 HW right now. It would be a mismatch, literally.
Kownacki should face at least two or three decent/very decent opponents before considering to face Joshua. He might be a solid challenger, but, not now, maybe in 2021.
They set up Miller with the Las Vegas drug crew because Joshua's handlers figured Miller might well win, and I agree. They are pretty sure that he can beat Ortiz so they want Ortiz. Kownacki has faced enough good opponents already to merit the fight right now, including two who fought Wilder and one who fought Joshua, but they don't want him either because he too could beat Joshua.

Tell you right now most people would have preferred an Ortiz fight to a Miller one.

I’d be a tad disappointed with Hunter. I like him but think he genuinely needs more time and fights to see where he is at and grow further in to the weight.
Ortiz would get wrecked by Joshua no matter what notice he’s given

Joshua would come in at about 245.
Ortiz 238 ?

It's all tactical. Hearn did low-ball Whyte because he didn't want Whyte taking the fight. If he can get away with a low-ball offer to Ortiz he probably will, but the aim is to get Ortiz in the ring so if that takes a serious offer then that's what he'll do.
Ortiz has never got more than US$ 500k for any fight so how serious would it need to be?

Yes he would but if Joshua doesn't quosh him he'll be next up for Wilder most probably. AJ could stop that happening thus giving Wilder one less alternative to fighting him.
Unfortunately Kownacki has ruled himself out of the June 1 date.

Nobody was forcing Joshua to fight Miller, so why fight him if they were scared of him ? I was pretty much the only one on here expecting a competitive fight, most people (ok, not you) thought Joshua would blow him away in a few rounds.
Now the fight isn't happening it's all a conspiracy between Evil Eddie Hearn and the "Las Vegas drug crew" ffs.
I was going to say "you couldn't make it up" except you just did

Ortiz’s manager said that the Cuban wouldn’t be fit enough in six weeks to face AJ.

He only had a week longer than that for Wilder, didn't he?
It seems odd to me that 6 weeks is supposedly not enough time, where a career high payday (several times over) that he wouldn't otherwise be in line for, is on offer and with no obligation to make weight.
I understand we don't know the details, but if it's not just an excuse thought up by a reluctant management, then it only suggests Ortiz is currently ridiculously out of shape, or his camp aren't certain he'd pass VADA testing himself.
