Miller's not a criminal though. Criminals know rule number one: never admit to nothing. If I was his lawyer I would have told him to say nothing.

I wish there were more severe punishment.

I am surprised for sure.
Maybe it was the "look" of Miller that made me think he was clean :maybe:
I do like to retain a little bit of optimisim regarding my favourite sport and division

Two years out of boxing would end any hopes for Miller to ever be successful again. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

It’s a surprise at this time and the amount of money on the line. They talk about the long term effects of some peds - if he was going to get nabbed you’d think it would be months before when testing wasn’t regular and expected.

I can't wrap my head around how Miller could be so dumb to get caught during scheduled testing. Dumb to take the shvt and dumber to get caught. Jarrell "Bye Bye" Miller.

What it shows is he didn't have good doctors and other technical advisers around him shielding him, instructing him how not to get caught + the right money to the right bag men so Las Vegas didn't look so hard + he's an idiot. But now look, their blood lust is up and they want to hang him, like he's the only one doing it. Drugs are everywhere in sports, even in high school sports.

All this could have been avoided if sporting and governmental regulatory bodies would grow up and legalize PEDs.

Nothing that can help endanger their opponent or themselves.

Anyone who truly cares about the health of professional athletes would support banning professional sports. They are not healthy endeavors.

People like to draw lines for some reason, but there's seldom logic behind why they're drawing them.

I'm surprised that he's semi-confessing.

He could have claimed that the drugs were somehow unknowingly slipped into his system.

Foreman has claimed for decades that he was drugged in Zaire by his own team.

A lot of folks believe him.

Miller could follow that lead.

His confession shows that he's not a criminal because criminal rule number one is never admit to nuthin. It also shows that he still doesn't have proper advisers or a lawyer. If I was the mug's mouthpiece I would have told him to clam up and say maybe he ate some s--t in Zaire or meat in Mexico but otherwise he don't know nuthin about nuthin.

Fans always want to believe. There are people who think Manny was clean. Hell, there are a few fanatics that think povetkin was clean! Once you get popped with gear you have to shoot, even the most naive have to accept it.

Yes, he's certainly bringing the heat. This recent interview with Dillian Whyte amongst others mentions (in passing) the use of Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs).

Substances such as testosterone which would ordinarily be banned can be allowed and are exempt from testing if the athlete can prove an existing medical condition. Even more importantly, not even 24/7 random testing will expose their use.

Apparently there is quite a bit of medicinal exemption use going on in sport. Perhaps it's high time medical confidentiality was bypassed in Sports and we were told just who is being allowed to use what. A boxers should have a right to know just what his opponent is on, albeit legally.

Miller's actions will probably be severely punished with him getting a 'huge' 4 year ban (later rescinded to 2 upon appeal). Nothing will change because nothing must hurt the cash cow. Perhaps its time that sporting bodies ask themselves whether the fans will wanting to feed it once they realise its not clear just who you are supporting - the sports star and/or their lab technicians.

In the meantime it looks as if investigative journalism is now also on life support.

Yeah it's a good one. I first heard it said of a drinker "They found traces of blood floating around in his alcohol stream".

How the hell did Miller think he was going to getaway with it when he signed up to the VADA programme?

I can't help but feel most people that are getting quite uppity about TUE's want to educate themselves on the subject a little further. This happens every time we start to discuss drugs in sport, be it boxing, cycling or other.

There are a long list of stipulations on the use of TUE's and I can assure you that the benefit of using them is insignificant. My favourite one is where people get so angry about the use of corticosteroids, commonly assuming they're the same as anabolic steroids because they both have 'steroid' in their name.

In addition to this, it should be noted that masking agents are also banned substances. Only disclaimer here is the generation of banned masking agents is on a time lag, behind the testing organisations. What I mean by that, is the pharmaceutical organisations are producing masking agents quicker than the testing organisations are able to pick them up (the Balco labs scandal being a prime example of this). There is in some cases a period of time where maskers can/are used where the testing organisations do not know about them. But do not be fooled, this is at great financial investment, and only the very top of the game will be able to fund such a strategy.

..for starters, irrespective of whether the benefit of using TUE's is insignificant or not, the names of all boxers (and all sportsmen for that matter) should be in public domain..the second step would be to make sure the process of obtaining medicinal exemptions be made transparent...
