I like this fight. It's not a gimme, and I could see Rivas pulling it out. I'd still favor Whyte.

Not sure why this fight is getting hate, Rivas is probably the best available fighter and he is coming off a good win.

PPV is always going to piss people off, but as long as the card has four or five good competitive fights I will probably pay for it (but then I am a bit of a mug).

It’s not a bad fight, but no way is it a PPV fight. Anyone dropping 20 quid on this is crazy.

Definitely a good fight.

lol the same way #6 (breazeale) vs #13 (molina) was. whyte was #3 at the time so i guess his luck evens out a bit here

agree, an unbeaten olympian (beat pulev in the games) coming off one of the best recent wins in the division. rivas has a better win then fury, wilder, and likely ajs next opponents has

this is a perfectly fine fight. i get ppl not wanting it on ppv, but calling it outright 'rubbish' etc is nonsense.

I bet Swiss Tony is sat at home now thinking 'How the hell am i going to sell this as a PPV'.

I think it's a borderline PPV. Rivas doesn't get the respect he deserves. While I initially favor Whyte, I wouldn't be surprised if Rivas were to win. He hits really hard and boxes decently. And maybe he's short, but he's not small, usually fighting mid 230's.

No matter what has happened.
None of it makes sense.
1 vs 2 or 3 vs 4 at least makes some sense.
But all of this arbitrary crap they pill is as frustrating to the fans as it is the fighters

Rivas is shit. Whyte is no great shakes either but in a different League. Terrible fight.

Not sure why you would say that, Rivas is pretty good. This will be a good fight.

Rivas was about to follow Alvarez, by signing a multi-fight co-promotional agreement with with ESPN and Top Rank.

Both Rivas and Alvarez are promoted in Canada by Yvon Michel of GYM.

If Rivas would have signed the deal, he would have returned on June 15th in Las Vegas, as part of the undercard to Tyson Fury's fight with Tom Schwarz.

But then he received a very lucrative offer, from promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, to fight top contender Dillian Whyte in a high profile fight on July 20th at the O2 Arena in London. The contest will be carried by streaming service DAZN, and on pay-per-view in the UK through Sky Sports Box Office.

The offer to face Whyte is reportedly worth over $1 million.

"I was a little lucky. My manager Stephane Lepine was about to have the [Top Rank] papers in hand for me to sign them," said Rivas to The Montreal Journal.

"However, my promoter Yvon Michel told him to wait for a few days before completing them. He mentioned that certain things are moving and that I could receive an interesting offer."

After his victory against Jennings, Rivas had mentioned that his right shoulder had been hurting him for a few weeks.

"Rest and physiotherapy treatments did me a lot of good," said Rivas. "I am comfortable now. I have no worries about my next training camp. I'll be able to push the machine all the way."

Decent contest and not a foregone conclusion.
I’m expecting Whyte to win but he will work for it.
