We had a UHF channel in Pittsburgh but it didnt have a boxing show on it. Mostly old movies, etc. You must have been close to NYC if you had a Spanish-language UHF station.

Oh yeah! Right on the outskirts. I remember seeing Zamora get leveled by Zarate live. That one always stood out for me. Plenty of Olivares; Chacon; etc.

You saw that classic on live television?

I thought that only aired in Mexico.

It took place in the afternoon because Mexican television wanted it badly but could only fit it into its daytime schedule.

I treked the the Forum for that one. Surprisingly it was not packed. Maybe 13,000 in a 19,000 seat arena.

The reason given was that many Mexicans opted to remain home since it was televised free there.

I always thought it was live. It was UHF channel 68/69 or something. Maybe it wasn't, but I thought it was.

We used to get some of those major Forum fights on Spanish language station KMEX.

But it was usually months after the bouts took place.

They did air the very controversial first fight between Napoles and Muniz from Mexico just a week after it was fought, since it was much discussed.

I remember watching that fight and then reading it in the next issue of Boxing Illustrated. So who knows. (Olivares/Chacon not Napoles/Muniz)
