Much as I love Efe, I wouldn't put him in with Soko as of yet.

If you want RDS that's the place to look.

I'd prefer Kevin Johnson. Soko can be a spoiler.

I'd rather someone that fights back. Johnson offers no resistance. Waste of time.

I see the value in Johnson. He's awkward and forces you away from your orthodox plan. He rolls shots well and forces you to find other angles.

And he's no threat...

I think Efe still has a lot to learn. Haven't seen him in with anyone close to the pressure and threat that Soko is capable of. No need to expose him to that yet. Maybe in another two or three fights. Against Wallisch I didn't see any improvements in form from the Mansaur fight. If he had a 'crisper' jab, I'd feel more comfortable with a matchup against Sokalowski.

Exactly. :TU: No rush in the lad's development is necessary.

Yeah, I just don't see what that prepares you for. Not that Johnson is bad for a 10th fight, just doesn't interest me. I hated watching him years ago when vitali could barely touch him.

Efe could be confident in applying new techniques learned in the gym in a live environment. I think these are the types of rounds that would benefit him for the long run, rather than throwing him in with someone who can and has thrown off a game plan. Those types fights will be better served in a year or so.

For the next year or so I'd like him to continue fighting every 6 weeks.
He's young I don't see the rush

OK, like I said he's a fine opponent for a young guy but dealing with frustration is about the only learning experience to carry forward.

That will come in time. He still has a lot to learn before having to push through adversity. He's a relative
newcomer to the sport. I'm sure his handlers know what to do.

I'm fine with him flattening guys. Johnson is just miserable to watch.

Johnson.

Efe needs rounds. Badly. We need to see (and he needs to see) just how much punch output he can sustain in a long fight. He’s not throwing 100 punches a round in 12 round fights. He needs experience to learn when to pick his spots so he doesn’t burn himself out against real fighters. Rounds first. Then guys who punch back later.

:TU: And to learn new things in the gym and apply in the ring.

Ajagba-Johnson would be a boring fight for the fans, but Efe needs to develop his limited boxing skills far more than he needs to impress the fans with another blowout KO over someone who cannot provide him with the learning experience he really NEEDS right now!!

Preferably anyone durable. Dawejko, Ustinov, Wach, Rudenko, Guinn, Kauffman, Johnson.
Enlightened-One wrote: 28 Apr 2019, 01:18 Ajagba has previously been manhandled with ease by Ivan Dychko, only won eight amateur bouts and competed in only 34 minutes and 41 seconds of action in the pro ranks (i.e. the combined total time of all ten fights he's participated in).
This article states that his amateur record was 41-2.

OK, don't think he develops anything against Johnson. He's hard to hit and stop but hopefully he'll never deal with that style again.

Just getting some rounds under his belt is reason enough to face Johnson and I'm not surprised that a number of commenters in this thread are mentioning KJ's name.

Joey would be a test for Efe but Efe doesn't need a war. What he needs is someone who is going to be difficult to hit. someone who is going to set him some problems, and make him think about how to try to open him up. The fact that opponent isn't likely to cause an upset is a bonus.

Johnson fits the bill very well. Dubois didn't look good against him but I'll bet he learned more in fighting Kingpin, than any number of quick knock-over jobs. Before he takes on someone like Joey, he needs to develop his skills rather than relying on sheer physicality. Watching Johnson against a touted prospect won't set your pulse racing, but it can be interesting and entertaining even so.
