With the UK population set to decline from about 2035 and loads of new builds going up everywhere at the moment, these fighters, and any other hobby landlord, buying property as a long term investment right now needs to be very careful. Home builders aren't going to roll over and die easily so anything that's not brand new and cheap, or in the heart of a thriving city, or Georgian style old and impressive could be screwed within 20 years.

Also, tax rules have changed already detracting from the value.

Rental properties will always be needed and if he's been lucky enough to buy properties outright or with a small mortgage then he can rent at a competitive rate.

Just seems like a sound fella who is in entertaining fights a lot of the time. Popular, fun to watch, fighters being used as ticket sellers is t really a new concept (although he isn't a ppv headliner). Some right miserable arseholes on here these days

Well said. I find it refreshing for a fighter to just fight. No stupid unbeaten record to protect, just go in there and try and beat who is in front of you.

For me Allen is easy to root for. I don't need headliners to be entertained, in fact they usually disappoint.

Allen's limited but he's got a better skill set than he's been giving credit for - decent power, good overhand right, goes to the body well.

Allen's also very game, got a lot of bottle and he's physically strong, especially for somebody's who's not full of gear, like a lot of heavyweights. He's a likable kid as well so, all in all, I'd like to see him do alright.
Nothing better than a hometown boy doing the business. :TU: :box:

The one thing he has going for him is his toughness - and as a heavyweight that is a great thing to have in the arsenal, he is a bit better than basic domestic level but it depends on how hard he trains and how his approach is. I think Hearn berated him a year or two ago for not taking it seriously so he can improve on what he has done up until now.

He is a proper heavyweight, has some power and is tough - it will be interesting to see how he goes from here.

Weve discussed this on another thread , at his age , he can go blow his money , on wine women song and drugs , fancy holidays with his mates and raves in Tenerife , OR he can buy a few properties , rent them out and sit back and wait for the next boom and natural growth , in value , unless he has the brains of course for other investments , but being who he is i doubt very much he had a uni education so property is safe . . Anyway your wrong about the population declining from 2035 , thers a trend now for the western world to open up to the african and middle eastern world and thats not gonna stop

I like Allen as a person and he's improving as a boxer, he could win a British or Commonwealth title if matched right

As mad as it sounds he's probably one of the best body punching HWs around

If we assume he's joking about Povetkin (i really hope he is), who is the best ranked boxer he could beat? and who do you think this opponent that he badly wants is against?

I like the guy but there's only a few in the Boxrec top 50 i could see him beating but that's mostly due to age, not skill. He's still fairly young so facing some more 50-100 guys wouldn't be a bad decision to improve his game further but i feel his confidence is going to get the better of him here.

Povetkin would stand him on his head, and I'm fairly confident Price is going to beat him as well.

I think there’s a good reason why he dismisses Hughie. Haven’t they sparred countless rounds?

Hughie would beat him easily.

Dave Allen at this stage is all wrong for Price i think, obviously miles apart talent wise but that's not the issue now.

Agreed. Allen will beat Price. I'm really curious if Allen can show some skill improvement with new approach.

He's still young and hasn't had any real beatings as such so maybe he can improve,Price though will hit Allen a few times then start waving his non existent jab around before he tires out and gets stopped.

100%. I've posted many times that with proper training (finally) Allen can improve his boxing skills if he's willing to learn. He has time for development and is one tough SOB.

I take it you've not seen Allen v Yoka then - he got a proper hiding there. Solis hit him with some big shots as well, split his tongue in half. David Allen's a tough, tough guy but he's needed to be as well.

Even some of those he's won haven't been pretty, Allen took a lot of punishment before he stopped Bracamonte.
what i meant was over a period of time where they are more damaging,

I think he has done a lot of sparring with Tyson Fury and also a lot in Sheffield with Joshua and other GB lads

A lot if damage is done in training rather than the actual contests themselves

That’s the worry. He’s a tough bastard but that can be a fighters undoing. When he next faces a powerful opponent who isn’t bothered in the slightest about what Allen can do, well, it’s not great.
Povetkin would give him an absolute hiding for example if that fight ever gets made.

On Twitter he said he has done a lot of rounds with Joshua over quite a few years

Also with Hughie, Gorman and even Klitschko!

I get the impression he has been used a bit as a tough durable sparring partner who is easy to hit

Ah right, add that to the losses and maybe he has had too much punishment for a young fighter.

I confidently predict that under Hearn, Allen will get a shot at the title, and before Whyte does.
