Forum format might be old people stuff but social media is garbage these days. People using "close" and "robbery" to talk about the same fight deserve to have their keyboards taken away. Very good, close fight. Canelo has proven himself a legit 160 pounder even if this decision had not gone his way. Props to both him and Jacobs indeed.
I've been saying for quite a while that if a modern fan ends up scoring a bout for a certain fighter by just 1 point, and the decision goes the other way, they rise up and scream "fix" and "robbery."

They're unable to tolerate or understand the nuances of boxing's subjective scoring system.

So true. People complain that Canelo's score cards are ready since before the fight but its clear their post fight comments were ready also. It was the same when Floyd was fighting, it got to a point where they would just say "Floyd runs all the time" even if they didnt watch the fight.

Its sad because those type of fans are hurting the sport as bad or even worst than corrupt judges. Canelo-GGG2 was a great fight. If it had been on the 80's it would be discussed as a classic. These days the "robbery" narrative gets so loud it makes it almost impossible to discuss the fight in its merits. Same thing happens with this one.

Jacobs has shown to be at an equal level with GGG and Canelo. If Andrade gets a shot and shows the same we can say its a great era for the middleweights. But some people just prefer to throw the robbery word around regardless of the events of the fight.

..I don't think that being the reason why some scream "fix" and "robbery."..the reason is that it's basically the same boxers getting the nod more often than not ...subjectivity of the boxing scoring system is understandable..what is unacceptable is that it works usually in one certain direction..

Of maybe it's as simple as the fighter they want to see win ends up the loser.

And the fighter they dislike, ends up the winner.

Unable to deal with the disappointment, they yell "robbery, fix" to try and delegitimize the outcome.

What is this becoming, the Canelo Alvarez sympathisers club?

Sure he's a charmless git who readily climbs up the corner ropes to celebrate his victory long before it's actually been announced.

Yes perhaps you could argue he's been juicing for years and only just now learned to time his cycles right to elude the VADA 8 week prefight testing period.

Some might even say that the Jacobs fight was closer, far closer than many claimed afterwards. In fact before the announcement the Sky team were far less certain of the result than Canelo was. It would certainly not have been a big surprise to them if Jacobs had got the nod. As Froch said it could have gone either way.

But anyway, amongst all this talk of Canelo being unfairly denigrated, has even a single voice claimed that Jacobs was robbed?

The consensus is that despite Canelo's preferential treatment (you all saw Sulaiman fawning all over him moments after the announcement?), right now there's very little to chose between the top 3.
