Who else should he face? IBF would've stripped him for missing that one. And regardless of his age, even if Povetkin wasn't a mandatory, he is top 5 and has been for years.

They fought Whyte years ago and it wasn't a title fight. He's a credible challenger. People are allowed a second shot you know.
Otherwise we would never have had Ali v Frazier 2 and 3, Bowe and Holyfield 2 and 3. Etc etc

I know the talent pool isn't that deep Josh so I take your point to a degree.
Beating Whyte previously is a poor excuse for him not getting a deserving shot now.
I think it is relevant to mention Wilder. That fight could have been made. Unrealistic rematch terms killed that one.
They could have tried to fight Ortiz sooner in my opinion.

AJ has three of four belts. Lobbying the WBC would be beneath them (he and Hearn) and doesn't need to happen. AJ is top dog and the one who should be chased.
