Heavyweight contender Junior Fa has finalized a fight with very faded veteran Dominick Guinn.
According to News Hub, the 17-0 Fa will square off with Guinn on the undercard of the IBF world lightweight title fight between challenger Richard Commey and challenger Raymundo Beltran in Palm Springs, Florida on June 28.
Guinn, now 44-year-old, has been in the sport now for 19 years. Despite his twelve defeats, Guinn has never been stopped.
Guinn was a highly regarded prospect in the early 2000s.
He was never the same after a close decision loss to Monte Barrett in 2004, but he still took a lot of punchers the full distance.
It would be an accomplishment if Fa was able to stop him. Guinn has won two in a row, while Fa is fighting for the fifth time in 15 months.
"I just need to keep myself tidy and do the small things right, because he's very experienced," Fa told Newshub. "Which basically means he brings a lot of skill and he's seen a lot of different styles.
"He knows how to take fighters into deep water, so I have to make sure I've got myself physically fit and mentally fit to go the 10 rounds, if I need to. If I take him out early, I'm the first guy to do that. If he lasts 10 rounds, then I have those 10 rounds underneath my belt.
"I've got something more specific that I can work on, so it makes things a bit more real. It changes the intensity of training just a little bit, because I'm a bit more focussed on what I can actually do in a fight. I think, in a couple of years, there will be much more exciting fights. I'm going to be really tested and I can't wait, because I'm training hard for those kinds of fights. I'm ready for whoever."
Parker handles him easy. Probably hurts him too. Maybe drops him and maybe stops him.
True, but hard core fans won't be impressed. I hope Parker fights someone more competitive next time out and not Fa. Fa doesn't do anything for Parker's rep. Especially after being KD by guinn and winning a pretty boring fight.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑29 Jun 2019, 12:48 Parker handles him easy. Probably hurts him too. Maybe drops him and maybe stops him.
But it’s still a big-ish fight down under.
It’s better if he goes into that fight with no losses and Parker takes his L. Rather than someone else.

Does that picture mean Garcia Lomachenko more possible?
Lopez will destroy Commey.victor-romeo wrote: ↑29 Jun 2019, 14:33 Beltran vs Commey was a very exciting fight. You can just tell when you see top level fighters fighting a real pleasure. I would favor Commey over Teofimo Lopez. Lopez looked smaller when standing in his street close next to Commey.
I wouldnt go so far as to predict Teofimo Lopez destroying Richard Commey, but Commey showed too many defensive flaws against the faded Ray Beltran. So I do agree that Teo will probably beat Richard when they meet for the title later this year. I see a Lopez stoppage around 7-9 rounds.SenorPipino wrote: ↑29 Jun 2019, 14:41 Lopez will destroy Commey.
Slow, aging Beltran froze Commey in his tracks on multiple occasions with hooks.
Too bad the reflexes weren't there for Beltran to follow up.
Be assured that Lopez will follow up. And when he does, he will put the champion to sleep.
It won't be competitive. Commey is gritty but an ordinary alphabet champion. Lopez will prove to be a class and a half above.
"Too many defensive flaws" is a terrible weakness to have when you're in there with a quick, heavy handed banger like Lopez.Best Coast wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 02:50 I wouldnt go so far as to predict Teofimo Lopez destroying Richard Commey, but Commey showed too many defensive flaws against the faded Ray Beltran. You may well be right. Time will tell. It will be interesting to see what the Vegas odds are for Lopez-Commey once the fight has been signed.SenorPipino wrote: ↑30 Jun 2019, 09:31 "Too many defensive flaws" is a terrible weakness to have when you're in there with a quick, heavy handed banger like Lopez.
Commey's footwork isn't the best either. It's questionable that he'll escape once Lopez hurts him.
I see an early KO. Within 3.
