Yes, Wilder has displayed mental toughness, although I'm certain his critics would be loath to admit it.

Came back from the brink against Ortiz and scored a late KO.

Never gave up against Fury and saved his unbeaten status and championship in that remarkable 12th round.

Wilder has heart and plenty desire. His chin may be no better than Joshua's. But it looks like he's willing to dig down more.

Stephen A Smith is an overzealous moron who knows squat about boxing.

And his butterbean comment is a typical uninformed & clueless casual comment. so basically, if Ruiz looked like a heavyweight Gilberto Ramirez, it would somehow not be such a disgrace in his clueless eyes?

BS take from a so-called “sports“ analyst.

Don't normally comment, but Smith whipping out the Butterbean reference? Seriously? The guy made a living off of a colorful background in those amateur tough man contests, and he was never anything but a novelty. He was a working fighter who was just in it to do his thing, I'm not going to disrespect him. However comparing Ruiz in any way to the king of the four rounders is pretty disrespectful to Ruiz.
If Ruiz doesn't do anything else after this except local car commercials and be a fight commentator he's already had a respectable career.

Stephen A(hole) Smith sincerely does not know squat about boxing.
