Who do you think would be a good trainer for Joshua?
Booth.

Interesting.
If he can't understand McCrackens tactics I think he'd be completely befuddled by Booth.

I don't think so. Joshua needs to learn tying opponents up, some defence and old school stuff. His long rang game is good. I think a buddy mcgirt type or going to the may weather gym would be a good move. Virgil hunter maybe also. He needs some old school techniques added to his game. If rahman was more experienced I'd suggest him. Or if holyfield or bowe had gone into training.

I think it's a huge decision to change trainer for Joshua. McCracken has been training the Olympic boxers for years so you'd think he'd be good at teaching fundamentals and I've no doubt he is.
There's at least as many examples of fighters who have changed trainer where it hasn't been for the better than there are success stories.

mccrakens advice was pretty much on, 1 loss doesnt mean a switch in trainer is the best move

I agree and posted as much. Switching trainers, in this case, is more for AJ's head. Gives him something to 'hold onto' considering the beatdown he just took. Kind of switches fault, if you will.

Maybe. Right now, he's having another fight in five or six months, so I think the timing isn't really right at this point. He just looked woefully prepared tactic wise.

McCracken gave AJ specific instructions which he chose to ignore .

Saying things between the rounds when you are talking to a gassed and hurt individual is only one facet. Is McCraken able to improve AJ, is he employing the right kind of sparring partners, things like that...
Without going overboard with criticism, I’m disappointed in the AJ jab. Especially if compared to a Lewis or a Klitschko. I’m a big advocate of the jab. AJ doesn’t have it or doesn’t have confidence in it. He could do real damage with it given how heavy his hands are plus he’s now prefers to stay at a long range, he’ll need it more than ever.
Unless I’m mistaken AJ has changed up his style since Klitschko. He was very exciting and a medium range combo fighter which was a breath of fresh air for the jab and grab division , now he seems to stay away but it looks so unnatural. A giant of a man trying to stick to the outskirts lugging his heavy body around.
If he can’t learn from this trainer, learn/improve his jab, learn some headmovement, ect, it’s time to move on. I wouldn’t criticise him for such a move. And god please don’t let it be Virgil hunter as another poster suggested. Look at his ‘fighter improvement’ record.

His advice was fine. It wasn’t executed. Because AJ never recovered his legs after getting hit behind the ear when he was fighting like a wild idiot in round 3 trying to end the fight. To employ what his corner was asking AJ needed to have his legs. He didn’t.
Typical scapegoat nonsense.
It really is that simple, at least as far as this fight is concerned.
There is the ongoing issue about muscle mass, and the effect on stamina, and I suppose McCracken has to be to some degree accountable for that It's AJ's first loss and it is nonsense to say that McCracken isn't a good trainer, but maybe it's just got a little stale. Maybe it could use someone with fresh eyes and new ideas

..once you get hit and BADLY hurt and your opponent keeps pressing you, all guns blazing and that is exactly what Ruiz did, I'm not so sure your corner can help you win this fight...we all know what Tyson (not Fury, the other one) said about it...
