It goes by weight. That's how the classifications work, by weight. Ruiz isn't really "fat". He has fat on him all right but obviously a lot of muscle underneath and when he punches he has all his weight behind his punches.

Plus his fat gives him cushioning from punches. I learned that when I was a little kid and was punching an annoying fat kid who lived nearby and he just laughed at me!
