The shot on Edwards was OTT but the Buatsi low blow was ok according to Sky? And no one cares when Fowler twats them with a late one on the floor either.

C,mon that's never a dive, Edwards apart from already being fvcked up was already down I imagine he wasn't tensing the body when Martinez landed that left hand, totally unprepared for it and got creased, seen that shot do that to a guy a million times before, granted we've seen guys over the years try take advantage in similar situations but no way do I believe Edwards could've got up before the count

You think the illegal shot was a hard shot? There didn't seem much on it and edwards reaction looks fake as fvck - how often do you see a guy scream out them roll around on the floor? He looked kike fvckin Neymar in there.

Looked a clear dive to me. Edwards was down so Martinez should not have thrown the last shot but this happens on a regular basis and rarely anything comes of it.
Edwards was getting hammered with heavier punches but IMO feigned the effect of the last shot. Edwards attempted to give the impression it was that last punch that made all the difference, which is b0ll0cks.
The referee didn't disqualify Martinez so the result should have stood.
A nice reminder from Overhand right's post on the other thread of how the WBC/Sullimans make things up as they go along.

Doesn’t matter if it was hard or not the fighter was on floor on one knee clearly when he got him - he could have been DQ’d.
It was absolutely stupid - he’d have finished him as soon as he got up.

That kind of makes it one rule for Martinez and another for loads of others who get away with adding an extra dig when a boxer is down.
It should be the referee who calls it, not that corrupt pratt Sulliman.

It was stupid and maybe he thought he wasn't "fully down", but it does matter if the shot was hard or not - otherwise we will have DQs all over the place.
When Buatsi finished Ford it came in a flurry in which a shot was certainly low - and the final shot in there was to the back of the head. Ford was clearly angling for a DQ or NC. Shame he didn't have Hearn and Suliaman rooting for him huh?
I've seen AJ commit several fouls too, after the belk and when the guy as down. All it takes is for one of these guys to roll around feigning injury to get the win huh?

Could Edwards have been given a 5 minute timeout like with a low blow
That's what shouldve happened, if he couldn't continue then Martinez would be DQ'd

I've seen fighters writher like that plenty times when hurt downstairs, it might not have looked a hard punch but when you land a body shot in the right spot then it doesn't need to be a cracker, plus the fact Edwards would've relaxed as he was down, Martinez caught him totally unprepared, silly as he was punching holes in Edwards

I'd put me house on it mate that Edwards will not have anything to do with a rematch with martinez

Edwards will be chuffed the decision was overturned but bricking it as the rematch was ordered straight away.
I’d give him less chance in the rematch, Martinez is a horrible fight for anyone. And with no serious punch he’ll never keep him off him.

Ref decision stands. He didn’t have a good look at the shot if he thought it was illegal give the man 5 minutes. DQ immediately is not on. Not a bad shot.
But he called ko and so it should stand
This is my problem with it the illegal blow wasn't severe enough to warrant a NC or DQ.
Rarely a fight goes by without some form of a foul, rabbit punch, low shot (khan/crawford), headclash. Wrestle or trip (Luke Campbell deliberately tripped Lomachenko).
The severity of the illegal blow needs to be at the refs discretion. Tyson bit Holyfields ear off and didnt get DQd, he got 2 points off.
In all honesty Edwards should've been given 5 mins or TKO given the shot wasn't that hard. But the ref never called it - tough titties.

Edwards is tight at the weight, this is hi opportunity to move up, as champ he will get a straight shot yeah?

Unfortunately the WBC have an instant replay.. but they choose when they wanna use it. Had it been the other way around. Would have been a TKO and on to the next opponent.
