What good is a degree in fine arts then? Can it fix your washing machine, can it fix an alternator, can it rewire your house, can it fit your kitchen? I have no idea why a lot of people bother going to Uni, my older sister got a degree in Law but she works at Wetherspoons and still lives with mum and dad whereas I the class clown and school dropout at 14 make a living building engines for motorbike racing teams.
If you're a rich kid with well connected parents then a degree in art from a decent uni can take you anywhere. If you're a working class kid with no contacts then you better be a workaholic else you'll get nowhere.

Some people like practical work, others like to do something using other skills...and unless you have been to uni how the fck do you know "most but not all" go to doss about? I could say most lads on building sites do it cos they're thick and spunk their money on coke. Its a lazy stereotype, inaccurate and of course, bullshit, just like yours.
I actually have a few relatives that are students and most Sunday mornings they are waking up in pools of their own vomit , Bet that is invaluable being hung over on Monday mornings lecture . they sponge off of their parents like you wouldn't believe ( something our know kids will never do to us and something I wouldn't have dreamed of doing to mine )but I suppose it's all about gaining some life experience as my sister in law puts it .
I'd be interested to know what percentage of university leavers actually get a job offer on leaving that is aligned to what they had been studying for years ?
On the other hand all the brickies I have ever known may like a pint or two but are not cokeheads.
I like most people take people as I see them and are not so naive to think that all are like it .
The trouble is this country will be absolutely screwed when people with real handskills die out as it seems to me kids are choosing academics mostly over getting their hands dirty .
Can't blame em tho' getting rid of apprenticeship training was a terrible mistake , but not to stress Bank of mum and dad can bail you out and you can party like tomorrow

I speak to many many students from many universities every day unfortunately. I always ask what they are doing, and where they are going. These are my observations....
99% PhD students will never leave campus. They will usually end up working for the uni. They don’t want to leave their comfort zone.
Anybody who is doing Economics, ain’t got a scooby what they want to do, hence pick a broad subject.
All Chinese do “Bizzniss studies”, and most buy in their work. It’s just status for their family walking away with a Masters from the UK.
The 2 Fine Arts I spoke to, one was going down the art restoration route. The other didn’t have a clue!
Sociology students shouldn’t be at uni.
Had a 20 year old Indian girl who spoke pigeon English, and was studying journalism. She wanted to be a feckin music journo in the Indy scene. Absolutely mental waste of money!
All medical students are very level headed, and I’d imagine are crap in the sack (female ones).
Also, there are too many thick kids at uni now. It’s very monetised these days. 50% of school leavers go to uni. Getting a Masters is the ‘new’ degree now.
