According to Arum, the 29-year-old Canelo Alvarez having problems with one of his knees. Presumably this is the same knee that has been giving Canelo problems for a couple of years. He wears a knee brace during his fights to guard it .

Multiple sources have informed BS.com that Golden Boy Promotions provided an offer to Kovalev’s promoter, Main Events, on Tuesday that Kovalev and his handlers have deemed unacceptable. The exact figure is not known, but BS.com has confirmed that it’s less than half of the $12.5 million guarantee Alvarez’s previous opponent, Daniel Jacobs, made for their middleweight title unification match May 4 in Las Vegas.

I have to admit I don't know much about Munguia but I don't imagine too many are going to be thrilled by the prospect of this match are they?

Kathy Duva has apparently confirmed that Golden Boy has made an offer to Sergey Kovalev to face Canelo, but she thinks there might not be enough time to negotiate the bout due to the Russian being on the brink of signing to face Anthony Yarde.

This could simply be a negotiating tactic (forcing GBP’s hand to quickly submit a better offer), since I’m not entirely sure about the justifications for the so-called time limitations, since Team Kovalev could ask the WBO for special permission to pay his mandatory challenger to step-aside (a fight that has already been delayed on multiple occasions).

Golden Boy’s offer for the Canelo fight might be Sergey Kovalev’s final and only remaining opportunity to receive a huge payday to engage in a super-fight against a marquee name considered one of the sports’ top-five pound-for-pounders. So it’ll be really weird if Krusher declines the fight, in preference to face lesser opponents’ offering much smaller purses.

Also, Golden Boy’s Eric Gomez and Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn have both confirmed that they’ve spoken about a potential bout between Canelo and Demetrius Andrade.

We also know that Jaime Munguia’s promoter has claimed that they’ve received an offer for the Canelo Alvarez fight, with the young 154lbs Mexican also being considered as GGG’s next opponent.

Of course, it’s also possible that Canelo might be forced to endure a prolonged period inactivity, sitting on the side-lines, waiting for his knee to recover from injury/surgery.

Either way, it seems that Canelo has no interest in facing GGG again prior to Cinco de Mayo 2020.

Bottomline: Canelo has no intention to fight GGG any time soon..has been more or less clear for a while..

I can't say I'm too upset about that. Great fights no doubt but if it's in the same location it's likely to be the same result: GGG isn't likely to stop Canelo, he hasn't before, he won't win a points decision in Vegas, and at his age isn't likely to improve on his previous performances.

I think if they fight again it's likely Canelo will get an undisputed win on merit, but for me it doesn't alter the fact he definitely lost the first fight and arguably the second one too.

In short to me it's all a bit

yep, that's pretty much the way I see it..

Kathy Duva says the lack of Pay-Per-View involved in a potential clash between Canelo Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev is hampering negotiations.

The Main Events boss told WBN on Friday an initial offer from Golden Boy was miles away from where Kovalev wants his purse to be.

This means talks must continue, even when Kovalev is in the final stages of confirming his next fight.

Anthony Yarde, Kovalev’s mandatory challenger, is being lined up for August in Russia. Time is fast running out for Canelo to make a last-ditch attempt to sway Kovalev away.

Considerable step-aside money would be needed for Yarde. Kovalev’s cut also needs a massive boost in order to get the clash over the line.

Duva believes staging Canelo v Kovalev on the paid format, rather than on streaming service DAZN, would be a huge help.

“This would have been an easy deal to make in a PPV situation. People are calling it a super fight after just one week of publicity. The buzz is terrific,” Duva exclusively told World Boxing News.

“Sergey and Main Events would have gladly worked on a fair split of the revenue in a PPV situation. This is because we believe so strongly in the success of the event.

“But DAZN and GB have gone to great lengths to tout their intention to kill PPV.

“So, if they want to make big fights, they are going to have to pay for the opponents upfront.

“They seem to be willing to do so with others. Other than Golovkin, Kovalev is the biggest, most recognizable name to casual boxing fans that Canelo can plausibly face.

“Yet they expect him to put his title on the line for the same money they would pay for an average top ten middleweight opponent.
