I loved the Rivas v Jennings match from the moment I heard it had been scheduled. I couldn't pick a winner and it stayed that way until fight-night. It was about round 9 before I climbed off the fence and decided which of them was going to win ... and even then I got it wrong
The reason I bring this up is that while Rivas finished in style, and it was a better fight alround, I thought Joyce looked more like the eventual winner for longer against Jennings than Rivas did. I could be wrong though because I knew the result before watching Joyce v Jennings so that isn't a like for like comparison. I'm interested to know if you agree with my assessment?
you are right, i had Jennings ahead of Rivas all the time until the KO... but Rivas managed to knock him out, that was impressive, Joyce won 1-2 rounds more than Rivas did, but Rivas eventually scored late KO, that is more impressive imo.
what also matters, is that Rivas was seen as an underdog, close but underdog, Jennings had a streak of wins, including wins over Dawejko and Dimitrenko, and at that time, people decided to rank him higher than for example Kownacki. Rivas moved to #12 after beating him, i guess that Joyce would be #16 or #17 on our list now. sounds legit imo.
