thing is holy was never proven was he? i mean, the whole evan fields situation makes it pretty clear he was a ped user, but ppl can still cling to him never actually being 'oficially' proven
That has never stopped baseball writers
But what can we expect really? Boxing is full of scoundrels and money grabbers . Hell the mob controlled the sport in its heyday.

Vitali was clearly great but his best actual win was corrie Sanders. .

lol no kidding, have ppl actually looked at his resume? dude seriously has a guy like sam peter as one of his standout wins. gatti has better wins tbh
At the time though, Peter was ranked #2 by The Ring I think, and that was what before GBP bought the Mag,
You can only fight who's in your weight class.

True, but your opponent's quality should be a consideration. It's the HOF!!! LOL! The only boxing hall of fame I ever went to was the old Boxing Illustrated HOF in NYC when I was a lad. I have no interest in seeing or caring about a boxing HOF. It's just more political BS in the sport I love.

Exactly, he didn't even deal with rahman, Ruiz, chagaev, valuev, sultan, etc.....

I do agree.. Wlad fought the better boxers when both Wlad and Vitali were around.

He may have boxed well in his fights, but his resume was thin as anything.

Maybe had he fought Haye, it would have spiced it up a little.
The best names on his resume are Byrd and Lewis, who he has losses to. Controversial or not.

Beating Byrd twice, chagaev, povetkin and haye are all nice wins
If pulev does something else that win will age well
On the other hand vitali never was knocked out by Sanders, Brewster and purrity

That's how wlad earned his stripes in a weak era. Vitali didn't. Rahman beat Sanders AND Lewis. He was also robbed against tua and toney. Vit has no business in there unless it's in a picture with his brother.

It's like reading a case for Omar narvaez. Bunch of numbers with excuses and no substance.

No, Gatti's list of wins isn't any better than Vitali's. And Gatti lost a lot of times to B-level fighters while Vitali lost only 2 times to elite heavyweights. Gatti was beaten by King Solomon, Ivan Robinson (twice), Micky Ward, Alfonso Gomez. Vitali's resume would look comparable had he lost to Julius Francis (actually better boxer than Solomon) early in his career, was beaten twice by Larry Donald (actually better boxer than Ivan Robinson), then got beaten by Chris Arreola (= washed up Mickey Ward) and got beaten by Derek Chioisora (actually better boxer than Alfonso Gomez). Add here that Vitrali was competetive in all his losses, while Gatti hadn't won a single second in his fights against ODLH and Mayweather.
Well, you can agree or disagree about Vitali but how can anyone in their own mind argue that Gatti was more deserving to be included in Hall Of Fame than Vernon Forrest or Diego Corrales? They have operated on the different level, they had MUCH better resume, and both were incomparably better fighters. If you'll bring here Gatti's entertaining style - well, Corrales was even more exciting fighter. His TKO10 win over Castillo easily trumps any of Gatti's fights in terms of excitement.

Corrales beat a pregnant woman. He would have massacred gatti, but he doesn't belong either. He had to cheat to beat Castillo, amazing as it was.
