Fighting twice on an app instead of ESPN the channel is slowing his momentum not making him well known to American fans.
Was thinking the same when he fought Schwarz. Giving him exposure would be fighting on ESPN and not the app.

Also this will probably be PPV again in the UK.
Seriously though, these fights should just be exhibitions. I thought the phony alphabet things have to approve fights, sanction them. These are ridiculous mismatches. Those guys never earned a shot at the title. They are jumping the line ahead of those who did.

Fury doesn’t have a belt though. The Lineal title is a status not a belt.

Oh...but even without a belt fights often say "pending commission approval", so why are high profile gross mismatches like this and Schwarz approved?
Stay busy somewhat short notice fight to strengthen Fury's position at the negotiating table. This lands him a top 5 ranking with the WBA, giving him options with every org. That's what this fight was always going to be. Anyone who looked could see it.

There are far bigger mismatches that go on all over the world every week.
Yeah but this one is a very high profile fight involving the man who is considered to be the world's best heavyweight. I just looked at Wallin's record. The highest ranked opponent he ever faced was ranked #201 in the world by Boxrec!

Agreed. I posted similar. So we've lowered out expectations? Um...no.

Crap opponent. Crap fight. Crap crap crap!
You're not new to boxing Oogie. It's 2019, nobody is going after big fights six weeks out with a massive rematch on the horizon. I called this fight the week after Schwarz. It's clear they want in the WBA's rankings.

The rematch is not signed. For all we know, Wilder will face Ruiz after Ortiz. So that doesn't hold water. Sorry.

For all we know Fury will face Ruiz after Wallin. Fury's faced the best in the world twice now.
Also, that has absolutely no bearing on getting a fight set six weeks from now with a *potential* rematch on the horizon in 2019. Boxing doesn't work the way it used to. I thought everyone was aware of that.

Comments like that don't change the fact that it's a crap opponent (again) for Fury. They had more than six weeks to get a respectable opponent. One would think Schwarz was enough of a joke, but nope. "Fury's faced the best in the world twice now." Priceless. I honestly doubt that Fury wants the rematch other than to get a big paycheck. So he's playing it safe. Utterly.

Shame on Fury for wanting a big paycheck, such an outlier in professional sports
No is arguing Fury playing it safe. He's also playing it like every other major player in 2019. He can get Wilder, Ruiz, or AJ early next year and he's making big money in the meantime. He's also fought Klitschko and Wilder, twice facing the best in the world. You can "honestly doubt" all you'd like, but the mans track record shites on that.
I thought he should have went after Kubrat Pulev and had the IBF sanction it for their title. I think Fury easily handles Pulev. The biggest problem for Fury is these soft touches will only make HIM soft.

Shame on me for wanting a good matchup. Thought you were a boxing fan, but you are obviously just a fanboy. So are you going to pay to watch this? are you excited to see it?

I can't believe how folks are judging this matchup as a Fury fan rather than a boxing fan. Don't we want to see good fights? SMH.
If this comment is directed at me, I'm not a fan of this fight, it's just fully in line with what I've come to expect from boxing today and don't see the need to complain about it.
Who would you have him fight?
Whyte is suspended right? Is Miller still suspended? Ruiz and AJ are tied up. Wilder and Ortiz are tied up. Rivas just fought. Washington just fought. Helenius just fought. Kownacki is tied up. Pulev is trying to force the IBF's hand. Povetkin is fighting Hughie. Parker fought recently and is supposedly getting Chisora next, who Fury's already beaten twice. Price just fought. He already beat Hammer. Martin just fought. Joyce just fought. Hrgovics got a fight. There isn't a whole heck of a lot of options for a keep busy fight in September.
