Tyson Fury...no chance I ever COULD like him. His personality, and style ensures I'll never like him, though I at least have come to respect his ability a little more so that's something.

I don't think any other boxers I've ever hated had much of a fanbase anyway, but he does.

Did people like Robert Guerrero? Because if so mark him down for another one on my list.

Muhammad Ali. Racist and the way he treated Frazier was disgraceful

I agree on Ali, he sucked as a person. Furthermore, he was a great boxer indeed, but still overrated as hell.

“Iron” Mike; never liked him as a boxer. Knew it was just a matter of time before a good big man demolished him.

I do like him now though.

FMJ. Although I do respect his business acumen.

How much of the stuff with Frazier was for the press/TV though? When Ali was on This Is Your Life in 1978 (3 years after the last Frazier fight), the last person they bought out was Frazier and there was genuine friendship there, hugging each other etc..

He’s never knocked out world class welterweights though. But he has dominated them.

Ricky Hatton. I just never took to him and rooted against him in a few fights, like Thaxton and Magee.

Ok I was thinking of Hatton, who must’ve weighed 147, plus beating the crap out of ODH, Marg, Cotto etc superhuman indeed

Who did you root for when he fought FMJ?
Neither really although I was quite impressed with Ricky after a few rounds.

That was a weird fight indeed during the build up, am sure Old Floyd trained Hatton but seemed to be a terrible fit for him as a trainer. I really rate Floyd as a boxer but I’m not a fan of the persona he presents. Also his woman bullying fetish is very off putting.

With Ali you have to remember he was a product of his time and place: the Deep South of the USA with “no blacks no n*****s” signs all over the place, and an American government set on throwing his ass in jail for disrespecting his white bosses - Joe refusing to take sides in his eyes was a huge crime, he was cruel to Joe that’s for sure - But show me a great champion who doesn’t have that vicious mean streak in him...

Yes sure some hide that vicious streak with a fake smile outside the ring, Ali just didn’t bother.

Neither tbh. Watched it as a mutual fan.

I thought FMJ would win, which he did. The winner of the fight didn’t bother me as long as I got a good fight. Although ref ruined it. Back then I wasn’t too much into the politics, refs, judges etc.

Around the same time we had the Calzaghe vs. Hopkins as well.
