A quality fighter cannot, should not, and will not always fight FIGHTS. He may, as often as his promoters can arrange it, go in the ring against no-hopers or mediocre plants just to keep working in the ring. These are essentially paid sparring matches. Willie Pep fought 229 professional matches. He NEVER could have fought 229 FIGHTS. Why? Because the body can not sustain it.

Tyson Fury will never box 100 matches, but even if he could, he would not subject his head to that many shots. Tyson saves his FIGHTS for the real fighters. It is just he way it is now. It is ok for Usyk to box against an opponent like Fedosov as the risk is low and he can get paid well for the workout. Usyk needs to save his FIGHTS for the big, top five of the heavies.

There's a risk. Fedosev is a KO puncher. He's won 25 of his 31 fights by KO - against fighters in quite another class though.

I've watched Fedosov . He's shorter, slower, predictable attacks, and kind of low mobility. Were i Usyk's promoter i would have no worries with this match up.

I am disappointed because i liked the Takam fight a lot more... Also, Fedosov is so small, Usyk will be bigger than him, i wanted to see Usyk vs real HW, Takam is short but he is really strong, genuine HW.

Fedosov is an interesting opponent

For David Price, Gerald Washington, Martin Bakole, Daniel Dubois, Sergey Kuzmin, etc.

I actually like Andrey a lot and enjoyed watching him score 3 knockouts to win the ESPN tournament. There are many opponents out there for him that would make good fights, but Usyk is just going to totally school him and it won't tell us anything because Andrey is too limited and hardly bigger if at all than the big cruisers.

That said, at this point with Usyk's inactivity I'd rather just have him in the ring again than waiting it out even longer on the sidelines to find someone else.

Not terrible. I'll settle for it.

Decent fight for his first at heavyweight.

It is the type of opponent that most of the top 10 are fighting.

Yeah, if not Takam, I expected him to face someone big and proven at the near-top level. Fedosov is small and isn't anything special.

I don't have any problem with Usyk easing his way into the division. But this seems like a pointless fight that won't tell us anything.

But this guy is only 6'1"
Hell, Bellew was 6'3"

Maybe this is just a keep busy fight to stop him falling into innactivity, but it will do nothing to prepare him for facing the super heavyweights of the division

If you are going to fight anybody, at least fight a big lump who will lean on you.

Yeah, I completely agree with you, because Andrey Fedosov is a short(ish) fleshy guy, with a garbage resume, that weighs the same as a rehydrated cruiserweight.

It's padded for sure , but there are some somewhat recognizable names on there, there are defo a lot more that are more padded. He is like a smaller version of Sergey Kuzmin I think. Prob better than Dave Allen. A step down from Takam though even though Carlos has been quite recycled already.

Not sure why people here want Usyk to fight prime Larry Holmes for his HW debut. Fedosov is perfect, he's a warmup act. Then when other schedules open he will obviously step up.

The real question is how fighters like Fedosov make a living. He fought once in 2016, zero times in 2017, twice last year, zero times so far in 2019. Does he have a full time job that keeps him busy and fighting is just a side gig?

People don't want particularly that. The thing is, Usyk has already been signed for a more challenging bout, but it was off and replaced for a less interesting opportunity.
