No public/state sanctioning. But private governing bodies should have a right to have thier own licencing if they want to.

He may be old (for a boxer) but the man is healthy as a horse. Maybe not mentally though. So long as he fights local boys, I have no problem with him making some dough.

No. But I want people to be free and do what they want with their lifes.

Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is. I don't see why older life is more valued than younger life. There are plenty of 30yo journeymen who get in the ring knowing full well that they are just cannon fodder for some up and coming fighter and are going to get a beating. This seems to be ok for everyone, but not if they're 50? I don't understand the difference.

What counts is the ability to defend yourself and the risk of serious, life changing injuries e.g. detached retina, bleeding on the brain. If a fighter, regardless of age cannot pass certain hand/eye co-ordination tests or has zero skill or has a medical history or has suffered a number of concussions already, then they certainly shouldn't be licensed.

But if McCall turns up to the state commission in his usual fit state, has no slurring of speech, has good reaction times and passes hand/exe co-ordination and/or reflex tests, then screw it, let the old warrior have a another go in the ring.

But he’s not alright at all. Didn’t he have an adverse brain scan from a number of years ago where they found a calcified fracture in his skull and he was advised to call it a day. He did go quiet for years after that.

It was reported in Boxing News in the UK years ago. It’s the main reason he stopped fighting. Try an internet search yourself.

I didn't find any sources supporting this. All I could find was that, in 2010, he was arrested for possession of crack.

I don't have the copy of boxing news, which is a print paper, but I certainly remember it as it sounded a bit gruesome. Presumably not widely reported as I think possibly the scan was carried out in Poland.

I am Polish and I remember rumours like that being said before (or after) one of his Rekowski's fight.

Fukk me. Two rounds against Andy Ruiz's fatter and less skilled brother and Andy Ruiz's dumpling sisters as ring card girls. McCall looked ok and was several classes above this guy, who quit on his stool. I'd recommend skipping the whole contest, my eyeballs hurt.

I agree. Why pull the license of someone that's never been knocked out when they license McCall's victims, who have numerous KO losses? He beat a dude that's 3-20-1 with 5 KO losses. Why license that guy? Just because he's half of McCall's age means that he deserves a license?

Didn't you know? Giving someone a Boxing license that shouldn't have one only matters when it's a fighter people have heard of. If nobodies ever heard of him, they'll never hear of it when he dies or is injured will they?

I just watched "Facing Ali" this week and was surprised by how well George Chuvalo and George Foreman have aged (brain faculty wise).

A handful of the other guys that were interviewed needed subtitles.

I thought Lyle was fine. Shavers sounded the same as when he was young. Spinks needed an interpreter. Of course Norton had that dreadful accident.
