Povetkin is still a nice name to have on one's resume. Not sure if he is ripe enough for Hunter's picking though. Could still kick his ass.

H. Fury vs. Hunter would be 50/50 type of fight.
BTW, I don't expect anything spectacular from Hunter's career. His limit might be the top ten HW.
I can not imagine him as a belt-holder at HW.

Oh jesus christ, please don't suggest Hughie, he's absolutely putrid to watch and beating him really proves nothing either. Who ever said, 'oh nice! so and so beat Hughie in an absolute stinkfest! Impressive!'

Povetkin would probably beat him in a close fight, i would love to see this fight, Hunter is a natural born boxer, he mixes his punches well, he has a wide range of combination, Povetkin is a great technician and still dangerous, he defeated Hughie as decisive as Hunter defeated Kuzmin.

Kuzmin managed to land some decent left hands, Povetkin would too.

Some say that Povetkin isn't exciting anymore, based on what? i disagree, it's just hard to be exciting vs Hughie.

I agree though that Sasha is more one-dimesional these days.

The version of Kownacki that fought Arreola? Yes, i would favour Hunter.
The version that fought Martin? Same.

But well prepared Kownacki, who weights ~240 pounds, like vs Szpilka, i think could beat Hunter, but it would be a very close fight. Hunter is skilled and style wise a bad match-up for Adam. In the first rounds he would take some clean punches from Hunter who is a more elusive, quicker fighter with a better footwork, just like vs Kiladze. But Hunter, unlike Kiladze, has a heart and chin.

Hunter would beat Hughie fairly easily.

“That’s the fight I want to make in Saudi Arabia, Michael Hunter vs. Alexander Povetkin,” promoter Eddie Hearn told reporters following Friday’s show in NYC, referring to the Dec. 7 card in Riyadh, S.A. headlined by the heavyweight title fight rematch between California’s Andy Ruiz (33-1, 22KOs) and England’s Anthony Joshua (22-1, 21KOs).

“It’s a good next fight for Hunter, who’s kind of like a miracle man. He goes in there sort of like a blown-up cruiserweight, because—let’s be honest—that’s really what he is.

“He’s going in there beating up big guys. He didn’t lose a round tonight against Sergey Kuzmin, who is supposed to be a Top 15 heavyweight. He made him look average. He’s undersized but he’s got big heart and he really knows his way around a ring.”

As second fiddle on the card it could set up a winner v winner and loser v loser scenario.

It seems to work this match-up on multiple levels.

If AJ wins and gets his belt back, then he'll be looking for an opponent. A rematch against Potvekin (who he's already beaten) is going to be good for his confidence as would be a match-up against the significantly smaller Hunter, in case he won.

Also, if Ruiz wins, then either a 40yo Potvekin is a great opponent for him, because Potvekin has got a name and is not dominating Ruiz size or cardio wise, OR you have Hunter, who probably doesn't have the pop of the real big hitters and probably not the boxing skills of Ruiz.

So whoever wins out of AJ and Ruiz will welcome the winner of whoever wins out of Potvekin and Hunter.

OR someone like Wallis gets a ticket to the dance, because he's game, but oh so beatable.

Povetkin, even at his advanced age, is one of the 5 or 6 best HWs in the world. Hunter just beat the first HW opponent of his career that wasn't a complete bum.

Nobody wants to work their way up anymore. If he wants to fight a Russian so badly, make it Romanov.

Bakole isn't a complete bum too. He's decent.

I don't really know why Povitkin would take this fight.
It would have to be for a real decent amount of money. Hunter brings nothing to the table as far as career advancement for Pov.

Alexander Povetkin and Michael Hunter reportedly have an agreement to fight on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. on December 7th in Saudi Arabia. The contract still isn’t signed as of yet, according to Michael Benson, but there’s an agreement in place.

Not too sure what Povetkin has left. I think it’s possible that Hunter could squeak out a decision at this point but wouldn’t bet money either way.

Everyone keeps asking what Povetkin "has left" despite the fact that the AJ fight (which he did shockingly well in) is his lone blemish in the last 6 years.

Ha, makes me think of when a certain fair and balanced individual said Pov mustve been shot for that fight because of his age, yet Luis 'Methuselah' Ortiz wouldve be a perfectly good and fresh opponent

But joking aside, hope this one happens :bag:
