Boxing is very hard score .if I watch boxing with my dad who has Been watching boxing 60odd years scores fights different to me .to my older brother same. Take the Tyson wilder fight. I thought Tyson won as I I thought he had enough rds and even in last when he got up he came back fighting. But my dad bit more well wilder put the man down twice and thought he won it. Saul v ggg I thought yea ggg first fight but second fight the way Saul changed it up and came at the champ I thought he won. But then I like fighters like BJs I think the way they fight I sometimes judge different . I think Horne beat PAC man .you get real horrible calls in boxing that is what I want to see out .but boxing is hard to score every has there veiw on fighting.i don't think I would want a computer calling it
You are right. Close descisions are not the problem.
But canelo/lara, kovalev/ward I & II or mayweather/castillo, this kind of nonsense has to stop.

re Canelo/Lara, I remember people on here the night of that fight talking like they hadn't seen Lara accomplish anything at all and it was obvious that Canelo had buried him on points. It's all really a lot more subjective than people usually like to admit.

People allow their personal preferences (boxer, fighting style, nationality etc) cloud their judgment when scoring.
That and a lot of people really don't know the scoring criteria properly

Please, everybody stop with that subjectiv objectiv whateverectiv there is. Its all nonsense.
Scoring a fight is as simple as cooking water.
You got 2 boxer in 1 ring
Who landed more punches
Who landed the big punches
And who landed more air than anything
And its its very close and u can decide than give it a 10:10 rd
That simple.
Lara landed clear good shots on canelo.
Canelo mostly landed nothing but air and
Lara easily schooled at young green canelo arguably worse than floyd did. Just because lara was cuban and no ppv star like usa floyd, thats why lata didnt get his win.
But lata won the fight.

I'm not disagreeing about that fight. Erislandy owned the first half and, even though he started getting caught to the body, still should've had a points lead at the final bell.
But there is still subjectivity. "Big punches," for example. Who decides which ones are "big," and how? And how do you weigh a couple of really big punches against several kind of big ones? And all kinds of other questions like that.

Dont make it complicated.
Its funny that people always talk about canelos body punching on lara, bevause it was basicly all he ever landed.
There were some rounds which were 10:10 cause both did absolutly nothing.
Lara won 8 rds, ~2 10:10 rds and ~2 canelo rds.
The difference between a normal and a hard punch is easy to see. Usualy opponents like wobbling or head snaps back or some are on pause mode.
Judgi g fights is easy. Judges job is easy. You just have to concentrate for 36 minutes

The other thing that happens a lot these days is that a lot of people tend to score fights to the fighter who has finished the stronger then cry robbery if the decision goes the other way. Forgetting that a fight is actually 12 individually scored rounds.

Five judges. Eliminate the two extremes and decide with the mid three.
You'd eliminate the really goofy scores and the ability to fix a fight.

I assume you’re from the US.
In the UK fights are scored on the following criteria:
3.31 Points will be awarded:-
For “attack” – direct clean hits with the knuckle part of the glove of either hand to any part of the front or side of the head or body above the belt.
The “belt” is defined as an imaginary line drawn across the body from the top of the hip bones.
For “defence” – guarding, slipping, ducking or getting away from an attack. Where contestants are otherwise equal the majority of points will be given to the one who does most leading off or displays the better style.
And watching the whole fight is recommended.

What also happens a lot is people don’t bother to score rounds and instead form an impression of the whole fight in their minds. Not the same thing.

Ability to fix a fight would just cost more, but I still agree with the idea.

Why own only 5?
Why not 20?

All fights should be judged by BoxRec polls

We'd have a lot more boxers posting and boxingrocks would have 4,000 aliases for every GGG fight.
