How long ago did you fail your scan if you don't mind me asking? I watched some medical professional do an interview where he said that if damage was to manifest it was likely to be in a seven year window. Don't quote me on that though, I don't know if it's true. Apparently the brain is extremely regenerative, but obv in boxing its the recurrent damage as opposed to say, someone having a bike accident or something.

Have you stopped all sparring/fights (I know you retired as a pro but some guys go the unlicensed route)? There are dudes out there who fail and then go into denial about it and keep at it one way or another. That is obviously where you see increased risk, a case like Nick Blackwell just shouldnt happen

Amir has alway worried me. remember when he had those back to back fights with lamont Peterson and and Zab Judah? a few months before he got bashed by Marcos Maidana and just kept fighting. I remember thinking, 'whoever is advising him should be ashamed of themselves' Khan should have retired 5 years ago. Audley Harrison is another one

I don't agree with us talking about fighters in this way. It's one thing to say someone has had some damage etc, but throwing a few insults around take the pisss isn't right

I don't agree. If it makes one fighter think about going on too long and retire healthy early then i'm happy.

No ive stopped all sparring mate not done any since before the scan, it isnt easy having to stop but health is wealth

Boxing is a hard and brutal game.

In a more formal interview I've noticed Bowe sharpens up and speaks much clearer.

Hopkins sounds weird, like he has the onset of something. And is trying hard to mask it.

Khan sounds exactly the same to me as he ways has done. Can anyone point to an interview where he sounded punchy?

There was a good BBC documentary by Shane Williams (ex Wales rugby union player) on recently where he was exploring the long-term affect of trauma to the head. It’s frightening for the rugby players let alone boxers.

I know Mike Tyson openly smokes a lot of weed these days, but he is clearly brain damaged.

I saw an online with interview with Tony Bellew very recently and think he estimated that during his amateur and professional career he had been punched in the head something like 500k times. That sort of sustained trauma must leave a legacy in some adverse way even if not detectable in speech.

The average fighter prob does 18 rounds a week in the gym, put that over 10 years!
Add to that the amateurs, fights, a few street scraps.

Some one asked me how many fights I've had in my life

I said define a fight! Between bouts, sparring and doing pretty much every night on the door for over 10 years, that would run into well over 5 figures.

Jeff Astle had early onset dementia and after his death it was discovered he'd died from CTE which is why there is all this fuss about heading a football. I think ex pro footballers are considered three and a half times more likely to die of dementia than the average person of the same age. Christ knows what it'll be for boxers but it can't be good news.

I know a lad round here had 20 or 30 pro at small hall level and he sounded punchy added to the fact he was KO recently which won t be helping him

A lot of the boxers seem to go downhill in their mid 40/ early 50s.

Sadly, when I see an ex boxer outside the gym, in the shopping centre or summatt, there gait gives them away.

Erratic behaviour is a big giveaway as well.
Ranting about there hard luck or conspiracy theories is a big sign of damage.
