This is an argument I've had with my own coach for a number of years. Even showed him the tape of the fight.

I am a patriotic Scot, I am also a fervent supporter of Manos de Piedra.

But in MY OPINION Duran was softening Kenny up for a late stoppage.

Maybe Ken could have went the distance we'll never know. Roberto was so ahead on points that the only way to beat him was a KO or disqualification.

Aint no way anybody until Hearns 10 years later was going to KO Duran.

So a bad attempt at a disqualification was tried.

No disrespect to Kenny, he was a great boxer, probably the best Scotland has produced. Arguments over Lynch, puncher, crude street fighter, McGowan, Paterson too young to know much about them.

Buchanan & Watt were champions during my lifetime and proud to have seen both of them in action.

Hard to pick between two. Remember Kenny had been champion and met Jim a year later.

Jim on way up good fight Kenny the winner.

What would it have been like if Kenny met Jim on the night Watt fought Pitalua.

Would Kenny be able to hold him off or would Jim have stopped him.

I thought Duran dominated and was well on the way to a late stoppage. Seriously, Duran hardly took a signifigant punch all night because of his great defence on the attack. Ken was there for the taking.

Haven't the time to read the responses on this thread but all I know is that Roberto Duran was Roberto Duran and Ken Buchanan was Ken Buchanan - Esteban De Jesus was Duran's bogeyman at Lightweigh, IMO no one else could luve with that killa at the weight, simple as that.
