On top of this he hasn’t made weight. No doubt he is to blame for this. This reeks of a payday fight. I had Canelo close decision. Depends how much pride Kovalev has left but I could see him taking a knee as I’m now a doubter.

He made weight an hour after the first weigh-in.

Here comes all of the excuses

.. doesn't this get old? Canelo moved up 2 divisions yet people are making a stink about Kovalev not being able to weigh more than 10 lbs. over the weight class they're fighting.

.. I can't say anymore, it won't be nice.

I have no clue what part of the globe these people are from. Don't care, they're idiots.

Well I’m sorry natejr, if that Is your real name. This is a real factor that can be discussed. Real, unlike your name. I’ve never heard the name natejr, sure I’ve heard of Nate and jr but not without a space in between.

Ah, okay, just seems you come to note that and complain about ppl pretty much entirely for Euro fighters, seems a trend and I wonder if they have funny fans?

It's a built in excuse and the fact people seem to think it's a potential deciding factor is laughable. Yes my name is Nate and if you notice both the J & R are capitalized, they are my middle and last name initials. I'm sorry you are so concerned about something as petty as my name and this silly 10 lb. Rehydration clause.

Canelo moved up 2 divisions to fight a vulnerable old champion and made sure that he made all possible advantages. Just knowing that Kovalev can't fight inside, doesn't take body attack well and gases after 5-6 rounds wasn't enough. Having judges in his pocket wasn't enough. Canelo made sure that Kovalev can't rehydrate comfortably, so that he gases even earlier.

Is it possible that it happens because Eastern Euro fighters are almost always B sides when they fight Americans, Mexicans and Brits on their home soil?

It’s just another factor to consider. You don’t feel it’s relevant, fair enough, there’s an option on the poll for you. However Golden Boy think it’s relevant enough to include as a clause, maybe they need to employ a NateJR as you know better.

!0 pound limit on the morning of the fight won't bother him; he can easily put on another 6 or 7 pounds by fight time.

Fair call. I wasn’t sure about the time factor, morning of or hours before, etc.

All ibf title bouts have this clause. He had that strap for a few minutes.

I wasn’t sure about the timing factor of this clause rather than IBF regs. If it’s morning, that’s better. Unless team Canelo have stipulated a weigh in an hour before fight time, which I haven’t read to be clear. If they are following the ibf framework, fair enough.
Edit: ok I’ve found a news article which says morning of.

People are outraged about Sergey Kovalev having to weigh 185lbs or less for the second day weigh-in, whilst conveniently forgetting about the fact the Russian adhered to those precise stipulations against the following opposition:
• Andre Ward (twice)
• Isaac Chilemba
• Jean Pascal
• Nadjib Mohammedi
• Jean Pascal
• Bernard Hopkins
• Cornelius White
The same people were also outraged about the very same 10lbs rehydration clause being implemented for Canelo’s bout against Danny Jacobs, despite the fact the American actually held the IBF championship (he captured the vacant title the fight prior by defeating Sergiy Derevyanchenko).
Canelo and Jacobs were both accustomed to competing under the same stipulations that Canelo’s team requested, they were also being paid handsomely and they both signed the contract and took the fight.
So what’s the problem? Why are people so upset about this?
People just have their panties in a bunch. It's not like he can't weigh over 185 fight time, just not in the morning which would probably be normal. I think Jacobs did the same thing against Canelo.

Negative. Kovalev fought for and possessed the IBF title, which also carry that same clause. Kovalev had no problem doing it before, so why is it a problem all of a sudden?

And what if Kovalev ignores this 10 pound limit and weighs in at 190? Big deal, it is not like Canelito and his crew and going to stop the fight.

- Watching some of you silly putties moan about Canelo before, during, after and in between every fight is priceless gold!
As Fat Dan noted, Kov been doing this next am weighin 185 limit for a while with IBF not to mention WBC been moving in that direction. Kov might be 195 in the ring.
Good show by Kov Friday to stage the weighin drama to erupt the goobering antisocial media into a froth. He's #1 boxrec and #2 Ring and still Sheriff Bob Foster dangerous at 175 and prob in the best condition of his life.
Krusher and Canelo old school making something happen in a down cycle of boxing.
