Why would they feed him to boring guy with no fans, who would probably just win a snoozer anyway? Isn't it the more popular guys who are supposed to be fed?

He's going up to middleweight to fight who then? Canelo please BJS or Charlo :shame: GGG didn't they suppose to fight and a commission said he would have been a mismatch and rejected the fight.

You're absolutely right!

The NSAC refused to rubber stamp Jaime Munguia as Gennady Golovkin' Cinco de Mayo 2018 opponent, because he simply wasn't considered good enough at the time.

Back then, the Mexican was only 21½ years of age, a former super-lightweight who was campaigning at 154lbs and had never previously competed in a serious bout against any world-rated opponent.

It was an absolute disgrace that GGG Promotions, as in Tom Loeffler and Gennady Golovkin (as they ran the company), seriously attempted to make a bout with Jaime Munguia. :brick:

It's amazing NSAC make have saved his career just by making that decision. He would have never got pushed after a GGG loss also thank Liam Smith for getting injured so he can step in the Ali fight. Two major situations that really worked out for him.

The first order of business at the new weight for the former junior middleweight titlist is a 12-round clash with Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan, which headlines from The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas (Saturday, DAZN, 9:00pm ET; preliminary card beginning at 7:00pm ET).

Both boxers remained disciplined enough through the holiday season to do their job at the scale. Tijuana's Munguia (34-0, 27KOs) weighed 159.4 pounds, as did Ireland's O'Sullivan (30-3, 21KOs).

I see a lot of people taking Munguia by TKO. So I gotta ask, how man rounds will it go?

If Munguia continues to win, will he be a frontrunner for Canelo in an all Mexico fight at 160?

Yes. Munguia will probably get a decision, but it is not an easy fight for him. Lemieux would probably stop him if he fought like that.

Munguia throws a lot downstairs including quite a few low blows. He got a point taken, but those legal and illegal punches take their toll. Spike is exhausted and will probably get stopped.

Munguia landed a bunch of clean shots to the head in round 9 hurting Spike, but couldn't drop him. A stoppage seems inevitable.

Either Munguia got lazy or his trainers finally persuaded him to not trade, so he gave Spike a breather in the 10th.

Dont have a bet on it, but if you had a bet on a knockdown would it pay or not pay? he was knocked down befor the ref saw the towl had been thrown in. its not over till ref calls it even if towl gets thrown right?

Good fight though. very interested in munguia at middleweight. and eventually probably super middle. if he can stay winning, him vs canelo in 3 or so years would be massive.

I'll be surprised if this kid isn't worn down by like 27-28, he takes loads and is working hard almost every fight now

I'll give him credit though, he can put his shots together nicely and is fun to watch

Spike lost. Fight ended round 11 by TKO. Was more from exhaustion than any punch. He was really fighting over his head. At least he didn't get embarrassed like he did against Lemieux. What can he do next but fight bums on under cards. No more climbing up now just climbing down. No insult intended just being realistic.

Munguia is not an up and coming champion as he is sometimes presented. He's fit, has some speed, a bit of punch but nothing challenging, mostly immobile without too much slip. Lemieux would stop him if he tried to fight flat and planted like he did tonight. GGG would put him away without much difficulty. The runners like BJS would box and flash his eyes dizzy. Don't talk Canelo now that's just slaughterhouse stock. Not certain what will become of him but he has a good Mexican following, is well mannered, and if he can make some real money good for him and good wishes.

Cannot believe Osullivan was considered as an oponent for Golovkin and Alvarez two years ago. Hopefully he does not get a big fight again. He is a club fighter and does not even belong to middleweight. And Munguia called out Golovkin, Alvarez and Charlo after fiht. He will get slaughtered and papa Oscar knows that
