Also, if he does fight Kovalev I'm almost certain it would be at 175. There doesn't seem to be any suggestion that it would be for his super middle title.
yeah agree but smith is a massive super middleweight and would think smith would be more comfortable at light heavy
I can't see Kovalev fancying that job at this stage.

I'm not a huge Smith fan but the timing is all wrong. It would be a quick job like the Fielding fight I think

The advantage is real and can be seen with both eyes. I was critical in the context of the thread re facing Kovalev. Callum is a 175er that boils down, if he wants to fight Kovalev, it should be at 175.
He's a career super middle. 90% of fighters boil down to make weight.

He has height and reach advantages yes but he also has disadvantages. No two people are made the same.
Ok I understand what you are saying and you’re not wrong of course. I have put Smith into a rare category in my mind along with the likes of J Hurd, mungia, charlo at 154, the Canelo at 155 and even 160. Fighters who generally look at least one weight class above their opponents. Obviously you are correct in terms of disadvantages as some of the fighters performances have been impacted by this such as Hurd, etc.

I however feel that any disadvantages are outweighed pardon the pun by the advanatages to this bit it’s arguable. I’d just like an even playing field which I appreciate you may say there is as all fighters can take advantage of this if they make weight. Without going into to much depth I feel like age, access to training and money, genetics, preparation time would all impact on a fighters ability to boil down.

Anyway you are right and I don’t mean to have a lengthy argument or debate.

Gallagher showing a complete lack of ambition in moving Smith on. Disappointing.

they are using kovalev to try and interest other fighters to take it instead .
thats not a great option for smith really , 2/3 demolition job and afterwards everyone says kovalev is washed up anyway .

Afterwards? He started showing signs of decline since Chilemba fight. Has been clearly washed up by the first Eleider Alvares fight.
