France are National Anthem World Champions - beating Russia in the final.

I don't mind the anthems if there were max 2 and only a few bars - no more than 5 mins wasted tops.
It's quite nice to hear a new anthem you've never heard before.

pointless for fans who just want to see the fight start , but gives the boxers time to absorb the atmosphere and be reminded of their game plan without just rushing in I guess .

They should only play the Russian National Anthem as its my favourite and reminds me of Rocky 4.

They do kill the atmosphere for sure, the boxers walk into the ring with their own song playing, gets them all pumped up, then they have to listen to the national anthems which are generally slow and dreary, then listen to Buffer introduce the referee, judges, timekeepers, floorsweepers and then reel off each boxers entire career history, then it's the refs instructions, then finally the fight by which stage they no longer care.

Honestly in the time it takes for a boxer to leave his changing room to the fight actually starting I bet entire galaxies have formed and died.

Mexican, British and Saudi anthems?? That alone is another 10-15 mins.. On top of that, these BIG fights, the entrances seem to take too long as well.

Italy wants a word. France v Italy is the highlight of every 6 nations, purely because of the anthems.

Pointless. It's professional sports. Pro-boxers are prizefighters, they fight for money, for themselves, they represent themselves. Pro boxers live and train, where its better for them, so they represent more their teams, than countries of origin.

I get your point but that’s not always the case. Plenty of fighters talk about fighting for their nation and their people etc
Look at Manny, countless Mexicans etc

Then you have the fighters that are brought through and represented their nations amateur set up in international competition, world championships, Olympics etc

German national anthem evokes more emotion in me than any other. It always reminds me how much I absolutely hate their football team and want them to lose no matter who they are playing! Dare I say it though, the Welsh anthem would be potential semi finalists

Italy would only lose to France, I can accept that.

Italy has the best national anthem when at the world cup etc.

I also have a soft spot for the Russian from call of duty days.
