I wonder who will be next ? horrible feeling it will be Pulev.
IBF mandatory isn’t he? Got to be done at some point. Still, he’s better than virtually anyone else. Would he beat Ortiz? 50/50 fight probably. He’d certainly beat Breazeale and anything Fury has ever beat apart from Wlad so in the grand scheme of things he’s not terrible by any stretch.
I agree. I think that Pulev is a little underrated actually.
For instance if you look at Whyte, there's a lot of people on his nuts and who imo overrate him, but if you look at his two fights with Chisora, Pulev actually beat Dereck in more comfortable fashion without any of the drama a long the way.
Has a nice jab aswell. Just lacks power to be honest.

I got a brilliant stream again
I got a pretty decent German stream. Well worth the fck all I paid for it.
I started out with Sky. That froze. I ended up with a great HD German stream. That froze. I finished with an American stream.
It was all a ball ache but it was free.

And who payed the £25 for the fight then? Even after you seen the fat guy on the scales?
Refused to buy it once I saw how fat ruiz was this time.

I thought Joshua boxed really well but id hardly say it was a good fight.

I enjoyed the fight because it was almost like a Bruno fight, in terms of doing great then getting walloped.
I thought AJ boxed really well, but now and again he got a bit careless and got a little too close to Ruiz and got caught. Luckily no punches landed flush on the chin.
It was an obvious game plan to keep it long. I wont watch the fight again but last night I enjoyed it.

Shades of Buster Douglas vs Holyfield.
Douglas got into fantastic shape to best Tyson. Then with the guaranteed big payday in hand, came in woeful shape against Holyfield.

ruiz had 6 months to prep for this bout !
making this excuse is a bit sad really , but I hope he comes back and gets more big fights.
But not a 3rd fight against AJ , they should both move on to other options .

Should fail the pre fight medical if you come in that obese , he shouldn’t have been in the ring at that weight

Hasn't he also got a mandatory requirement within 180 days with Usyk?
I saw Kugan asking that question in the post fight presser.
I think he'll just give up the IBF belt and end up fighting Usyk instead.
If he fights Usyk and vacates the IBF, Pulev is #1 and the #2 spot is not filled. Agit Kabayel is #4 Adam Kownacki is #3. If either of those two fight Pulev, then the IBF belt will leave Matchroom and go to Top Rank or PBC.
If he fights Pulev and vacates the WBO title, Usyk will probably fight Parker for the vacant and regardless of the result, the the belt stays at Matchroom - Don King style. Joshua would have to be having a terrible night to lose to an ancient Pulev and he can always fight Usyk afterwards.
He might get an accommodation from one of the governing bodies, but that would probably mean fighting them back to back.
X2 well thought out argument

I dont get how and why people were saying it was a crap fight. AJ came out with a game plan and and it worked. It was a team effort to get a plan together and stick to it. I just cant see how people didnt like that fact.

That doesn’t really work as an argument - there’s been loads of fights where a boxer has followed a gameplan and stuck to it. Doesn’t mean it’s an entertaining fight. It’s not unusual that people don’t really enjoy that type of performance, Fury gets criticised for it constantly so it would be a bit hypocritical if Joshua didn’t.

It wasn’t the best fight but it was tense (at least for me). When AJ landed that first big right hand that cut Ruiz I thought it was going to go off. Then AJ got cut too. It looked like it could have been a war at that point .
I’ve seen discussion comparing AJ to Wlad, but AJ isn’t going to turn into Wlad against everyone and he’s always going to have more variety to his work than Wlad anyway.

Good performance from AJ, he showed discipline and versatility. But we have to be honest, Ruiz was hugely disappointing. Even with that said, he did manage to ruffle AJ a few times and comfortably take his licks and last the distance. To me AJ look wary at times and I have to favour Wilder and Fury to beat him (by different methods).
Eddie Hearn calling it a masterclass is a step too far.

Thats proberly the right word to use for the fight 'tense'. Thats what made it interesting.

I don't believe that's true. Many would deride him for being 'boring', 'negative' and 'lacking power'. Hearn has ripped Fury's performances in the past but is acting like boxing an out of shape 20 stone guy in a massive ring makes AJ some superhuman boxer.

I think AJ put in a good performance, and while I agree it can’t be viewed as a ‘masterclass’ i can’t imagine anyone else in the division beating even a fat Ruiz that convincingly, besides Fury.
Wilder may have lost a bunch of rounds just through doing nothing, and Ruiz is so tough I think he could even have weathered the eventual Wilder storm to make it close on the cards. Then the next tier like Ortiz and Pulev would have been pick em fights basically. Possibly would give Ortiz the edge but would pick Ruiz over Pulev.
Bottom line is Ruiz’s iron chin and resolve makes him a tougher fight than his physique suggests, for anyone.

Nah people always call Fury boring (rightly so)
I know I lick his ar5e a lot but all this makes me appreciate and miss Lennox Lewis a lot. AJ has a 'masterclass' for throwing a few jabs per round. Lennox used to average over 30
Plus he could be aggressive and had a great variety... Wasn't scared to take a few too

I think next fight I’m going to get more prepared. I’m going to work with my team a little bit more. I tried to train myself for my last preparation.

My arms felt like I couldn’t throw my combinations. But you know what? I know next time I’m going to do a lot better. Who wants to see the third trilogy fight right here in Saudi Arabia, baby?”

So, Andy has learned after the fight what we all knew after the weigh in. He should have been in the "f–king best shape" this time, not next time. The third fight is never happening and I doubt anyone ever wants to see him again.
Disgusting behaviour tbh. I was actually ready to place a very rare and rather large bet on Ruiz, until the weigh in.
