No mention of McAllister beating him? A lightweight beating a super heavyweight.

This is a year or so after I really started following boxing hardcore.

And yeah Sinan Samil Sam was definitely not sh1t. He was the benchmark at European level and showed our domestic lads up. They either got beat by him or didn’t reach the level to face him during his European reign.

Lots of decorated amateurs flop in the pros,
He didn't.
so that doesn't mean much.
Except it does if he didn't.
He was a bit of a mystery going into the Williams fight
World amateur super heavyweight champion and an undefeated EBU heavyweight champion - mystery to you maybe  I knew him and saw him fight loads of times on Eurosport. He also beat Audley Harrison as an amateur - if you read Boxing News to any degree in the 1990's - you knew who Sinan Samil Sam was.
and his physique was atrocious.

You really sound like you have been following heavyweight boxing for five seconds - so what if it was - Tim Witherspoon had an atrocious physique but was successful, so did Tony Tubbs, so did Buster Mathis - his physique has nothing to do with anything....
He hadn't exactly looked murderous versus the chinny Saleta,
You take A fight and put a whole career into context, it's like saying Mike Tyson wasn't destructive in the late 80's because James Tillis went the distance with him when Frank Bruno stopped him in five rounds 18 months later - it is absolutely ridiculous rationale. :shame:
not that many people over here had seen that fight. I'm not sure even Eurosport broadcast it, I think I had to order it on tape. But everything that you write about him became apparent during and after the Williams fight, so I kick myself for not following you these last 15 years, I could have cleaned up gambling on your picks.
I know more about it than you, yeah. I tell you who would vouch for me on this, James McDonnell - he was around on another forum when I picked Sam vs Williams - he may or may not remember anything from 20 years ago.

And if you read the above, I also picked Kali Meehan to beat Williams - I got that wrong and admit it, so get back in your box you auld woman.
I'm noting the flailing, dishonest argument being employed here.

We're in 2003 discussing a 16-0 Sam whose only significant pro result is a 7th round stoppage of Przemyslaw 'LKO1' Saleta, I'm saying his amateur background is no guarantee of success as decorated amateurs flop in the pros all the time, yet your argument is 'ah ha! But he didn't flop! Look at his career! His amateur background did matter!'.... Well, yeah, but we didn't have the complete 2000-2008 Samil Sam career to consider in 2003. Did we?

"Physique has nothing to do with anything" -- missed that big fight on the Dunes the other week then? Literally every fat guy you listed hindered his talents being fat, so pretty poor examples.

"You take A fight and put a whole career into context" you complain -- yet Sam literally only had the Saleta fight to point to in the pros. His other 15 fights were against the usual journeymen suspects. What else did we have to put pro Sam into context with? That awesome points decison over Ratko Drascovic?

Also, why the f++k would James or anyone remember such a prediction given that you're saying Sam was the obvious favourite? Hey, anyone remember my brilliant pick of Anthony Joshua over Eric Molina? Anyone? Hello?

Now go back to your asian sex dens from whence you came, you middle aged, unmarried, childless, creepy fat git.

He was a world amateur champion at super heavyweight - I am pretty sure Boxing News picked him to beat Williams - someone like 'bennie' might comfirm, your silly claim that he was an unknown is balderdash. He didn't flop as a pro, he was a world rated heavyweight boxer and an EBU champion.
"Physique has nothing to do with anything" -- missed that big fight on the Dunes the other week then? Literally every fat guy you listed hindered his talents being fat, so pretty poor examples.
Who is saying every fat dude can fight as a heavyweight pro - what I am saying is it isn't a good benchmark - Tim Witherspoon KO'd body beautiful Frank Bruno, yes, the fat Mexican dude KO'd body beautiful Anthony Joshua and yeah - Samil Sam KO'd Danny Williams.
"You take A fight and put a whole career into context" you complain -- yet Sam literally only had the Saleta fight to point to in the pros. His other 15 fights were against the usual journeymen suspects. What else did we have to put pro Sam into context with? That awesome points decison over Ratko Drascovic?
For the EBU title, the same Saleta who beat Luan Krasniqi - he won the title and he was a European champion and a former amateur star, if you weren't reading Boxing News at the time then you wouldn't have known who it was - you probably got your boxing information from the Beano or something.
Also, why the f++k would James or anyone remember such a prediction given that you're saying Sam was the obvious favourite? Hey, anyone remember my brilliant pick of Anthony Joshua over Eric Molina? Anyone? Hello?
I didn't say he was 'the obvious favourite' I said he was my pick to beat Williams. You thick pudendum!

Tsk tsk... I see where all the bile and anger comes from - are you're married by any chance?

Indeed, did you write an article and you picked Martinez as well?

I saw Martinez fight a Robin Reid opponent named Mora in Buenos Aires and he was shit hot so when he came to the UK, I thought Williams was going to have his hands full and that Martinez would be too much for him. :TU:

None of your arguments stood up to scrutiny, you cretin. It was all hindsight but for "I read it in Boxing News", which for some reason makes you think you are an all-knowing oracle of boxing.

Well, they do, because Sam had pedigree before the Williams fight, was a successful pro and had a successful professional career after it, beat Saleta - a reigning EBU champion who defeated an unbeaten, world rated Luan Kranisqi in his previous fight and went on to beat Danny Williams :TU:

It wasn't hindsight - sorry you got it wrong and I didn't  Still, I understand the bile and the personal insults coming from your way, Christmas is coming and your big fat wife and the kids that don't look like you want you to stump money you don't have for presents under the tree - being unmarried and childless, I just don't have that problem so don't take it out on me! :verysad:

NB: And I don't think I'm the 'all knowing oracle of boxing' (though I am next to you...) when in the same original post I said I picked Kali Meehan to beat Danny Williams when my pick got KO'd in a round... (you thick can't-read-for-shit-twat).

This paragraph is such godawful fiction it belongs in one of your books.

Very kind of you, but I was nowhere near the top, barely made a penny despite writing hundreds of thousands of words.

Annoyingly I didn't get an authorship credit on magris book, which in hindsight I should have insisted on.

It just struck me as a bizarre pick given his scanty record and I was genuinely curious to learn the reasoning behind it. Answer: Boxing News and the fact that years later he could go 12 rounds in tough fights. If I too could look into the future and see fighter's forms I think I could really make some great predictions!
