Who says he’s anxious about his durability? He got into that shape for one fight because he needed to box and move, which he did. He passed the test.

You really think ‘Chin in the Air’ Pulev is outboxing Joshua without being caught? AJ is going to crush him, probably quicker than Wlad did.

Those weird folks predicting ‘psychological damage’ for Joshua after the first Ruiz fight were wrong then and wrong now. He’s going to go back to being the AJ we knew from before the loss. I hope he stays in the 245 range though.
It's people who want him to lose, they are trying to read everything to suit their hopes. It was really quite amusing to see how so many people acted like AJ was just in a state of utter despair and ruin, and that he was totally done already going into the rematch.

Funny thing is, the same people will then also talk about unbeaten records not mattering and will call for 'the best fights'. Yet that whole rush to label someone as finished is such a large part of why cherrypicking happens way more than great fights do.

It was kind of a one off fight. If Pulev can beat Chisora without really needing to get out of second gear, he's obviously a threat.
Pulev is the sort of guy who can get away with his flaws against the likes of Chisora but isn’t going to pose many problems for an elite heavyweight with range and power. Straight lines, chin in the air, flat footed, target practice.

His tactics seemed fine, might as well take the fight to Wlad when you have literally no advantage boxing him over the distance.

There's no way a non-punching, chin straight in the air opponent with an average chin is beating Josh. It's like a pellet gun vs heavy artillery. And Josh isn't some mindless slugger, he has boxing ability himself and underrated accuracy. He didn't win Olympic gold and worlds silver KOing everyone.

This is a Wlad style KO all over again.

Rather too much confidence in a fighter floored 4 times just two fights ago.

Nah, it's just understanding the matchup

What do you place the odds at? 60/40 AJ? 50/50? Pulev the favourite?

People are hot on Ortiz

How would an Ortiz - Pulev fight go? 50/50?

Pulev would be the 2nd best win on both Wilder and Fury’s records, at least.

Ya, I'd say Pulev would be the second best opponent either has beaten, certainly you can make a good case for it. I would say he'd be 4th or 5th best for Josh

Pulev alone with other Bulgarian sources are confirming the fight will take place in Istanbul in May. In a stadium fight.

Istanbul? Well that's fuckin random eh? Makes me wonder what dark forces are at work behind the scenes  The 2 main guys at the weight are tied up just now so i don't mind Pulev as a defence plus he's a mandatory anyway... I would like to see Usyk but i'd also like to see him get more experience at the weight first so this kinda works out ok i suppose....

I wouldn’t call him crap. He’s kept winning. Not always faces the Best competition though. He’s just not an exciting boxer.

still unconfirmed ???

its just pissing me off that if the fight is in May then its 6 months since ruiz 2 .

fighting twice a year is ok if the opponents are decent but really to me Pulev isnt anything more than an enhanced sparring session so why should fans wait so effin long , how on earth could they build it up into anything resembling excitement will be interesting .

AJ should be back in the ring in March to deal with this mandatory and be ready to fight again in June / july against a better name.

If they don't bring this to the UK that'll be mad. Are they banking on us missing him so much that his return will be huge? They've done the Saudi and US thing now... if he fights Wilder next, that' be in the US... are they banking on Fury beating WIlder for a huge UK show or is the foreign money really getting to Hearn?

Not if one of them gets absolutely sparked.

Regarding Pulev. He’s a mandatory and let’s be brutally honest, is he actually any worse than Ortiz? People seem to have a hard on for him but who has he ever beat? Pulev v Ortiz would be nigh on a 50/50 fight.
Pretty decent keep busy fight plus takes care of a mandatory doesn’t it? Istanbul is a bit leftfield too!
