Gut feeling mate. He got blown away by Dubois but I think Joyce would take a beating off him as well, albeit it longer. Gorman was looking good against modest opposition but Joyce is hardly a world beater himself. He has a great engine but is very poor technically I don't think it's a certainty to say either fighter would win

I don't rate Joyce either but in beating the likes of Jennings (although it was very close) he's shown more than Gorman ever will

Time will tell mate. Your probably right but I just think so little of Joyce it clouds my judgement abit

There's some praiseworthy honesty from Gorman in that interview, but just to be 100% clear, Dubois beat him very easily. Dubois was on his game and that's credit to the potential threat Gorman posed beforehand but the fact remains he was dismissed with the minimum of fuss.

He can win the British and/or Commonwealth titles. They are within his ability for sure. From there only time will tell.

He's better than Allen no question, a fight with Price would be interesting, but stands zero chance against Joyce and would get a real clobbering. Joyce can already compete at world level whereas Gorman would struggle.

If Joyce v Gorman is made in 2020, big Joe prevails by stoppage.

I don't know how Joyce v Gorman could be made at this stage unless Joyce is coming off a loss, or Gorman is a last minute replacement

Gorman is still very young. Needs to get back to winning ways etc. Rebuild now..

Gorman's handy at British level, but he was emotionally overwhelmed against Dubois. If he can overcome the reasons for that he could do quite well.

He looked scared from the go vs big Dan. Apparently they had sparred lots in the ams? Maybe those sessions didn't go so well for him...

Yeah, he went out swinging in the fifth and showed heart in doing so, but he was boxing like someone who realised he was physically outmatched. No shame in that, but it was more one-sided than most of us predicted.

I'd like to see him aiming for the likes of Hunter and Hrgovic and maybe winning a title somewhere, because I think those guys are about his ceiling. Not everyone has to be elite to have a successful, praiseworthy career. Chisora's a fan-favourite, as was Danny Williams.

More than John McDermott, he now reminds me more of long forgotten Wayne Llewellyn. Good enough at domestic level to stop Michael Sprott, but horribly exposed every time he stepped up. Losing to the very vulnerable Pele Reid meant the media never really paid him much attention.

Maybe a winnable comefight fight to build up the confidence before going in with David Price could be quite interesting.

From there he could step up to someone like Chisora, or try and lull Joyce into something if Joe isn't making noises higher up by that point, which I doubt as his career already seems like its stagnating.

Jay Macfarlane would be an even matchup

I can't see Gorman ever reaching the level that Chisora is at even this late in his career.
A good start would be actually getting in shape for once.

Next Saturday is a semi-interesting match for Gorman's first fight since losing to Dubois, against the free swinging Richard Lartey. Lartey's last fight was also against Dubois.

Hopefully Gorman can get a confidence booster and refocus on the British title.

THE HEAVYWEIGHT RETURN of Nathan Gorman against Richard Lartey will now take place on October 10, having been pushed back from its original date of September 12.

The Ghanaian’s medicals have not been supplied in time for him to enter the fighter bubble tomorrow and as such the fight will be moved to the undercard of Liam Williams’ mandatory defence of his British title against Andrew Robinson.

Gorman, 16-1, will now feature on a show that also includes Anthony Cacace defending his British super featherweight title against Lyon Woodstock and the Commonwealth super welterweight title clash between the holder JJ Metcalf and challenger Jack Flatley.

Promoter allegedly commented: “Since returning post-lockdown we have always been ready to react to issues as and when they arise. We have been clear that we will always act with fighter and event safety in mind.

It is disappointing that we can’t put on this great fight for fans this weekend, but the show is still an exciting prospect for boxing fans, headlined by the return of Anthony Yarde.

"It is a pity for Nathan that he doesn't get to fight this weekend, but it is only a short delay to what will be a good fight that will go ahead on another strong card on October 10."
