I don't know. They gave him Olivares at the right time, he was well past his best by 1980. Shame they'd already pitched him in against Sanchez and Chandler by that point though.

Another decent candidate is Marlon Starling. I've never really taken a good look at his record before, but it's very impressive. Fighting top class opposition right up until retirement.

Fought 6 unbeaten fighters in his first 11 fights. Went on to have his moments versus a prime Mosley (I was actually surprised when I first saw this one) who later blamed his less than perfect performance on weight troubles, in reality the little man just made it competitive, before going the distance with an unbeaten, eight and a half inches taller Corrales (the scorecards even reflect he won some rounds), then finishing off his career going the distance with an up and coming Cotto.

Distance losses to Jesus Chavez and Manfredy deserve mention, as does a win over a hungry 16-0 Robbie Peden.

Everett Martin.. journey man i know but definatley boxed some of the very best.
