Absolutely - took some punishment and still kept coming back.

He’s only been full time for this fight and works in warehouse - would be interesting to see if how he could progress as full time fighter as he was in with the divisions elite there.

117-111 Martinez for me but what a sterling effort from Harris, really showed he has something about him, can box and has tons of grit, Martinez just had that more pop on his punches and his shots had more of an effect, Harris tagged him clean plenty but Martinez just keeps marching forward and as the rounds went on you could see the steam go out of Harris's punches, still it didn't stop him rom trying to keep up with Martinez

Lovely knockdown from Martinez in the 10th, left/right to the body right at the start of the round but Harris again showed he wouldn't go away that easily and got up to box well in the round, fair play to Harris he could've tried to pick and poke his way to a decision but chose to trade with Martinez in there, still Martinez the deserved winner, keeps marching forward, can be hit but punches hard and puts together some nice combinations, I thought both men showed nice work to the body but Martinez a level above in power and strength, Harris will come again though

Harris showed plenty of heart.
I’d of liked to of seen him throw the left-hook to the body more. I thought it was hurting Martinez when he landed it.
Martinez is a quality fighter. Heavy hands.
I had it 118-109 but Harris was competitive in every round.

I’d fancy Harris against Dalakian. I know they’ve sparred before aswell.

Hope Harris can afford to bin off his Amazon job and go full-time.

Would be surprised if Matchroom don’t look at him with Welsh cards in mind - they have Cordina, Selby in on the Cardiff card to be announced.

Harris done himself proud. Kept pushing even when he was getting battered, I'll watch him again.

Really enjoyed this fight - a great watch and credit to Harris. He was ultimately out-gunned but didn't look at all out of place in this and put in a superb effort. :TU:

He'll certainly come again and I'll look forward to watching him.

Harris was brilliant last night. Loads of people wrote him right off, he didn’t get the win but I thought he looked really determined and really classy with his defence when he got slick and hit the body well. Martinez is a little animal, some big shots just bouncing off him.

Look forward to watching Harris in the future.

Martinez should fight Chocolatito.

Ok, but nevertheless a fight which has taken him forward.

He should be in line for another world title shot or at least to reclaim the Euro.

Showed he's leagues ahead of Edwards.

Fair play to him, went into the lions den, took his lumps and fought to the end.

Class and talent wise he looks top level too.

Agree with all that. He’ll only improve if he can go full-time and all.

Jay Harris put up an outstanding challenge. He showed the world he's a world class fighter with skills and bottle to match.

The 5 punch combination he put together in the 9th round was pure class.

Unfortunately for Harris, Martinez has "hands of stone" and the left-right to the body in the 10th was a brutal combo. Jay did extremely well to carry on and stay competitive until the end. I really thought the fight was over when he went down.

It's hard to accept defeat when you've given everything in a fight few gave him a chance of winning, but I'd have liked to see Harris and Lockett be more gracious in defeat afterwards in the IFL interviews etc.

The score cards were not sh1t except for the 115-112, which was too close IMO, especially with the knockdown Harris suffered. Jay was competitive through out but was losing the rounds.

There was no controversy here guys, just be proud of your effort and give Martinez the full credit he deserves in posting a clear points win :TU:

 I'm not aware of Kenney's 'work' but he sounds a trifle excitable.

the Jimenez comparison is a decent one, Alberto was a bit more technically-polished and compact, and less heavyhanded, but they have very similar frames and the way they put their punches together in combination is very similar, Alberto would also sometimes square up or switch lefty to give him certain angles on shots.
