Such a weird thread. They're talking like Wilder was some master boxer and something must've been wrong Saturday. What was wrong is that Fury commanded the center of the ring and Wilder had not one idea how to deal with it

His wife's outfit was too distracting. The poor guy couldn't concentrate on boxing.

To be fair, that would be a legitimate excuse; I would be distracted by that outfit too.

I picked FURY by KO in the 6th.... and TBH, I too thought something was “off” about Wilder right from the “get go”. His legs (although never great) seemed even more off kilter than usual. Also.... he didn’t really seem to have any “pop/zip” on any of his shots at all. However they put that extra 17-19lbs of lean body mass on his frame played a part methinks.
That being said, no excuses, it CLEARLY was not his night. It happens to everyone.

Wilder didn’t just get walloped in the 3rd round. A master boxer weighing in at 19.5 stone brutally punched him in the face from rd 1, as happens to most people their legs aren’t great after that.

Yeah he was a dead man walking...from about Round 3 onward after Fury busted his ear drum, and had his equilibrium all f*cked up.
First 2 rounds he was throwing pretty hard, and looked quite dangerous.
He had the fight beaten out of him.
I’ve always thought Wilder a pretty awful boxer technically. But, he he did catch an unfortunate shot behind the ear. Never recovered. A bit like the shot that Ruiz caught AJ with, although that was on the temple.

As usual, people over-analyze everything. Although I thought Wilder would win, once you get a busted ear drum and your equilibrium is gone, its over. Props to Fury, and I look forward to the third fight.
No one likes a sore loser that is full of excuses, but what I hate more than that are people that show up as devil's advocates, stiring the pot, and acting like dumbasses. Plenty of that on this site. No wonder people keep leaving, putting up with people like EO and Margarite Thatcher. (Husband and wife perhaps?) What a couple.

I don't disagree that the ear shot did similar damage like Ruiz vs AJ I, but Wilder had no answer to Tyson. Even in the first two rounds while he was still fresh, he showed no patience; no sense of strategy. His cornermen had nothing during camp to add any value to DW's boxing. I think I'd be more willing to see a third fight if Wilder gets a whole new corner.

10 MPH breeze would have pushed Wilder down that night. 1st jab landed on him 1st round shows how weak he was. Wallen would have taken Wilder out in 2 that night.

Incorrect strategy and/or preparation is different than an “excuse”.... No?
An “actual” excuse might be to say...... “ I had broken ribs, I had a bad back during camp, I was being investigated for tax evasion....” etc.
I haven’t heard any excuses from the Wilder camp at this point.... but part of the reasoning for my pick was the extra weight on Wilder. When you’re dealing with elite athletes..... you EMPHASIZE their strengths, in Wilder’s case... he was lighter, fast/explosive with that “god-given”/natural right hand power. In my estimation, the extra weight hurt him, it hindered his speed and explosiveness..... and he gassed even more quickly than he has in the past. Just my thoughts.
BTW.... no broken eardrum, just a cut inside the ear.

A lot of people just don't like Fury so don't want to give him any credit.
Therefore they want to diminish his successes by saying something must be wrong with Klitschko/Wilder.
Truth is that Fury is inconsistent.

He gave a doozy if an excuse today. The costume was too heavy... 40#. He said it was way too heavy and it affected him

As mentioned already there was no 'busted eardrum". Wilder was just beaten by the better man. I still think that the 3rd fight will be tighter though, still interesting to see.

I think Wilder's last 2 fights are the first 2 times he's officially been down on the cards at the end, arguably losing all 12 scored rounds, I think his trajectory is on the way down, but the beating was so bad that ya I kinda think he'd have to do a bit better in a 3rd, though still lose and still nowhere near as interesting as Fury vs Josh
I'll be pooped if he takes the immediate rematch. He says he wants it but they still need to take those official steps. It will prob happen, I don't doubt that he still has confidence in himself and landing that 1 shot (though Fury has still gotten up twice and recovered strong)

One thing wilder isn't is a sportsman. He gave fury no credit, it was all about him and how he had complications lol. He took defeat like a child. Lost a lot of respect for him.

Why did he stand up for 7 rounds then?

Are you sure? Because he was sure wobbling around like a man with a busted eardrum after the 3rd round. He wobbled on his legs A LOT of times.
