Fury v Whyte will be like Fury v Chisora

The first one was at least good. Few complaints after that one.

Fury took some solid licks and appear shaken a couple of times in a fight he otherwise won clearly. I recall at the time people were disappointed in Chisora that he wasn’t in good enough shape to take advantage of this,

Whyte should have taken the AJ fight in Wembley when he had the chance.

I know it wasn’t a good offer, but it’s AJ who was offering the amount and not Hearn.

Now days, boxers think they’re worth every penny, for a world title opportunity they want to be quids in. It’s daft. It’s like they don’t believe in their ability to win.

Had he took the offer and beat AJ, there’s plenty more massive paydays for him.

It’s not like he’s a favourite to win.

I like Dillian White but I completely agree. His main complaint was that it was less money than he got paid to fight Chisora. That's so stupid. I love Chisora but if they both made THAT much money that afterwards White thinks 3 mil isn't enough to get paid to fight for the chance to win three belts, then he should be forever thankful that somebody promoted them both to the point where a fight between him and a very good gatekeeper was PPV, earned him a mint and got him a shot at the world titles. That were then won by Fatboy.

He'll kick himself for that forever. It's not that rubbish an offer. £3,000,000. That's an awful lot of money. I'll never really understand it. He's one of the best fighters of the era but that was the best chance he had at being champion of the world and he jogged it on because 3 million wasn't enough.

Back when the Klitchkos were champs the offer you got as a voluntary defence was 250k euros plus the tv money from your home territory. I’m sure I remember Frank Maloney saying that once. I bet some of the challengers to the Klitschkos didn’t even get a 90-10 split considering the amount of money the promotion would actually make. Absolute daylight robbery in those days if true.

Some challengers even today, still get the odd 100k-250k for defences.

Crolla, even at mandatory position got $300k to challenger Loma and Arum said that was paying him ‘way more than his worth’.. obviously he made more through UK TV rights from Sky.

whyte was never going to take that AJ rematch last year because he was out of shape. He's let himself get out of shape far too much between fights.

After his last performance against Wach he should be thankful he's getting back to top a PPV card, and that has been put back from the original plan because he's needed more time.

I like Whyte, as much as his next fan, but I don't think for one minute he is as unhappy with his current situation as we are all led to believe.

He has to do something or he’ll be fighting top contenders and fringe contenders in brutal fights & one day he’ll be losing these fights, and become a gatekeeper like Chisora. No shame in that but it’ll be a harder and less rewarding life. And he’ll have to continue fighting his arse off for less money.

He doesn’t have a contract with a promoter and manages himself.

BUT to fight on Sky, he needs Hearn. So they work on a fight-by-fight basis.

He knows The Sky platform is huge and he’s now a ‘PPV attraction’ so he will probably stick at it.

If Frank offered him £5m to fight Joyce, he could easily say yes and appear on BT.

We are led to believe that Whyte will get his WBC shot in Feb 2021.... however that is reliant on him keeping the victories coming in! He seems intent on taking consistently harder fights that anyone else in the division bar Joshua.

Povetkin in late spring and then maybe another fight later in the year ?

He obviously wants big money fights but at some point there a real risk that he comes unstuck before he gets his overdue shot.

Assuming things go as we think they will, he will have fought : Parker, Rivas , Chisora x 2 , Povetkin , Joshua .

Not a bad resume for someone who has never fought for a world or even European title

I don't see Whyte beating Fury. But then again neither did Wilder...

So, taking a step back, I think Whyte's record in the last two years is superior to Wilder's.

Whyte's controversial win over 2008 Parker is superior to Wilder's controversial win over 2008 Ortiz.
