Rocky Fielding would have beaten Canelo if he'd been the second coming of Carlos Monzontigermoth87 wrote: ↑06 Mar 2020, 08:33
Rocky Fielding could have beat him if he had more power, a better jab, better foot work, a different game plan and could take a punch.

Definitely a bit of levels thing here. Ryan Rhodes one-sided affair.
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 2 May 2020
Would love to see BJS perform a Floydesque schooling here but it'll be a Canelo points win. Can't see any other outcome. Don't think either will win by stoppage.
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 2 May 2020
BJS has the problem that he'll probably lose fair and square and also probably lose if he wins.
I'm rooting for a BJS masterclass win to be commuted to a draw or scandalous win for Canelo !

Aye that's true! Anyone fighting Canelo starts off with at least a 6 round handicap

Exactly, he’s got no weaknesses really, people keep harping on about BJS can win if he fights the wat he did agains DL, Canelo is light years better, not to mention that fight was years ago and he looked awful last time out against an average opponent

Can someone add a "billy Joe out boxes Canelo but caneolo wins by decision anyway" option to the poll.

I think Canelo will knock BJS around like an empty tracksuit. Ironic if he did it for 12 rounds and BJS gets an extremely dubious decision

Judges are aware that the Boxing public think they favour Canelo. There will be a fight with close rounds and they will judge the other way to show their not on the take.
I remember Russian judges had a shady reputation.
Then there was a few fights where the away fighters got some right dodgy decisions.
Chechnya had a few, which isn’t somewhere you’d expect.
I’d argue that Britain have the dodgiest scorecards in the world at the moment.
The BBBoC need to look at hiring specific judges instead of making the refs pick up the slack.

Don't want to make a decision yet . But hope this fight happens now. This year .I think it will be fight to remember
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 2 May 2020
Finally Saunders took a good fight. He wasted a lot of time in his career. This bout can be career-saving. Hopefully he still can perform well. Probably this time he will be motivated and prepared. At his best he can become a very inconvenient opponent for Canelo. With his methodical style Saunders can remain unharmed, but also he can just be outworked. I guess, this is how the fight will go. If Saunders uses more opportunities and boxes sharper, he will have more chanoces to outbox Canelo. But anyway Canelo will be backed up by the judges.

Good fight.
Hope Saunders wins but the smart money is on Alvarez by points isn't it

I don’t think this is an easy fight for Canelo at all; yes of course you can talk about levels of opposition, and I’m not a huge fan of BJS at all, but clearly he is one of those fighters who fights rubbish against low-level opponents, then steps up when there is a threat.
One paced as he can be, the Canadian was a hugely dangerous fight to take in his own backyard, high risk stakes against a lights out puncher, and that was an absolute masterclass for the gypsy ( errr prince?? )
Of course the near impossible to beat Canelo is a favourite here, but surely he’s going to have some trouble landing on the slippery as an eel BJS, who will be popping off shots and making him look like a mug at times, this could be a very interesting fight for sure.
Sanders seems to have no fear, and could put on a master class and surprise us all.

Do think bjs ducked fights then. I don't think he has . He fought the likes of Ryder eubanks jr when there was no world titles on the line .made fighters like spike look like journey men. Knocked Lee down twice won easy . Munroe lemieux dangerous rep look stupid. He is a fighter no one wants. I hope the boy gets his chance to show how great he isDrDuke wrote: ↑07 Mar 2020, 09:17 Finally Saunders took a good fight. He wasted a lot of time in his career. This bout can be career-saving. The Lee fight was close, Willie Monroe didnt have a dangerous rep at all and won like 4-5 rounds. Spike is bang average.
The wins over Ryder and CEJ were very close though still good wins.
Lem got schooled, but he's as crude as they come, he couldnt put a glove on GGG either
Of course, you get a lot of people acting like his poor showings or close fights never happened. Ya, let's just ignore those and cherrypick. He's also a big smelly c@nt with poop on his cheek so I hope he loses and pretty sure he will

Yeah, Saunders has been buzzed by average opponents, Alvarez will stop him him inside 10 rounds.

I remember Ali Funeka getting a split decision win over an unbeaten Russian in Russia in what was quite a shock. I thought he lost that fight.PredatorHayds wrote: ↑07 Mar 2020, 08:37I think something like this will happen eventually.dr_devious wrote: ↑06 Mar 2020, 18:34 I think Canelo will knock BJS around like an empty tracksuit. Fury also against Klitschko in Germany, in a close decision. I was fully expecting Wlad to have been given the benefit of doubt by the judges and awarded the decision. I think the odds with the bookies at the final bell were also in favour of Wlad being given the decision. but being the home fighter certainly didnt assist in that case.ShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑08 Mar 2020, 10:53I remember Ali Funeka getting a split decision win over an unbeaten Russian in Russia in what was quite a shock. I think Canelo punches too quick and hard and in combos. I think it will be too much for BJS who has consistently performed poorly since the Lee win (with exception of Lemieux). I’m not sure BJS is properly conditioned to be pushed for 12 hard rounds of constant educated pressure, which Canelo is capable of ala The GGG second fight. I can see a late stoppage for Canelo in this but I hope I am wrong and that BJS really is a master boxer who is capable of raising his game to the elite level.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 2 May 2020
It's definitely happening, then?
A rare occasion of a big fight with a British fighter involved where I'll just go to bed and read about it in the morning. I've said this before but Canelo being 'the face' of boxing makes me yearn for Floyd, who despite being a c*nt was a genuinely amazing boxer. I just don't like Canelo. It's like he looked at all the criticisms aimed at Floyd about his opponents- weight drained, above their natural weight, below their natural weight, on the slide, old, whatever- and then just applied it to his career like it's standard. I mean, you can't beat him on points because the judges are already bought (Even Floyd only got an MD against him, and he shut him out completely) and he's a drug cheat weight bully that's impossible to KO. I'll never like him. I thought he was cool back when he fought Lara, a tough opponent nobody wanted to fight, and he's clearly a hard man. He's just such a product, a diva, and his fans are such dicks. He doesn't mean anything to me. He's not important. The true greats didn't have his level of cushioning. I can't get on board.
I'd love it if BJS won, just because I'm weirdly patriotic in my own strange way especially when it comes to sport, but he's quite a despicable bloke considering all his YouTube shenanigans. He's a bell-end. He's not Tyson Fury, who's said some dumb stuff but fundamentally is a good guy and has pulled some mad, almost supernatural sh*t that's transcended the sport. He's a very good boxer who's a twat.
So I'll go to bed and hope BJS wins. But I'm going to vote Canelo KO in the poll. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Just how I see it.

but they are! a 100 percent & no doubt about that.
saunders has to either completely shut down nelo for at least 12 rounds to make the judges think twice bout their reputation.
still then i think the best he can get on the cards is a ridiculously all wrong "draw" and a paradox "rematch" for him that fairly judged should then be his to grant canelo with.
or he really goes all in and gets canelo outta there.
both possible but most likely he will clearly win the majority of rounds with a couple of early close ones and they will just fornicate him over regardless what's actually happening in the ring.
i hope saunders completely shuts down canelo, really trying to put him away in the championship rounds, having canelo out on his feet saved by his team, just because saunders knows it's his only chance to win.
if canelo knocks out saunders, fair play to canelo.

Be surprised if Canelo doesn't get Billy Joe by the later rounds. Cash in fight for Billy Joe. He's a very smart fighter with world class skills but he will have to put on a masterclass here.

Only Query about this fight is can BJS run long enough and fast enough to not get KO'ed

He has never put on a masterclass against a truly world class fighter,he was buzzed when he won the supermiddle title and has had a string of poor performances for years now,he would have to perform far,far better than he ever has in his whole career to get even close.SticknMove wrote: ↑09 Mar 2020, 00:19 Be surprised if Canelo doesn't get Billy Joe by the later rounds.
