I like Johnson. Hard bugger but time is not on his side.
Nope. They don’t have a deal with Johnson (I think it was on a fight by fight basis) and given the stuff Gallagher said I’m not overly surprised Matchroom didn’t bid.Black Sam Bellamy wrote: ↑02 Dec 2020, 02:29No bid from Matchroom ?maverick23 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2020, 17:05 They had purse bids today for the fight. EC Box (who I assume represent Mikhalkin) won the bids with €89k. They were the sole bidder.
At least Johnson has an idea of his worth now on the open market. £40k gross for him before expenses and deductions. I wonder how that compares to the money Joe declined on his behalf.

Yeah - it was for the vacant European title at the time. Bauderlique beat him well and stopped him though in his last fight (I think broke his jaw) so not sure what he’s got left.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 May 2022, 11:45 This fight was first discussed when Johnson was still with Matchroom..
Now it's on BT
Lol I was gonna come on and say when is he pulling out of this fight!?maverick23 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 09:43 Callum Johnson pulled out of the fight this morning.
So we’ve lost his fight and the Heaney fight i.E. 2 of the main 4 fights.
What started as a good card is now really one good fight (Cunningham/Tete) and what should be a showcase for Joyce.
Any news on why?
Nope - I listened to a vid with Frank and Umar IFL Umar and after Umar complimented him so much on the show, he went through the fights and asked about Johnson and Frank said he pulled out this morning but didn’t say why. He didn’t sound best pleased.
Yeah he dismissed it much in the same way that he was asked about Daniel Dubois' purse which he didn't want to comment on.maverick23 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 10:52Nope - I listened to a vid with Frank and Umar IFL Umar and after Umar complimented him so much on the show, he went through the fights and asked about Johnson and Frank said he pulled out this morning but didn’t say why. Callum fought Beterbiev in 2018handsofstone wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 13:33 He needs to call it a day, I get that he's been unlucky with injuries but there's something not quite right with him, whether Joe Gallagher has to shoulder some blame I don't know but getting COVID the week before the Beterbiev fight while still in UK is Johnson's fault, good career I suppose but dogged by pull outs and inactivity, Warren no doubt feeling how Hearn has felt several times
Joyce is usually watchable and who knows what to expect with Cunningham/Tete.
