Or at least if they couldn't, they didn't need a ref to wave it off, they just needed a ref to count to 10. The fact that Steele couldn't count to 10 meant he shouldn't have stopped the fight.

Can’t count to ten when the guys on his feet, everyone knows the drill when you get knocked down, get up, get your hands up and tell the ref you’re ok to continue, he couldn’t do that so got stopped, wouldn’t expect the ref to know how many seconds left when he’s concentrating on the fighter.

Then why do they bang on the canvas and put red lights on at the ten second warning? The ref should be aware of everything

No he didn't , the video is right there on the first page. He just looks away when Steele asks him

They’re not supermen, with everything going on, the crowd going mental and severely depleted fighter in front of him I wouldn’t expect him to be aware of that other stuff.

Watch from other angles..he nodded after 2nd question just as Steele was waving it off

He was holding the ropes and looking around blindly, no nodding or any clear response to Steele (apparently that's steeles fault lol alp). His body language and reactions were awful and nothing like an alert guy ready continue, it's just a matter of the time for me---there was very little left but still enough that just maybe Chavez could starched him with another shot. I can see both sides

It's the fighters job to show they are okay, not the ref's. Steele was in his face shouting and twice asked him if he was okay, so this stuff about Steele not doing the job to get his attention is nonsense. The fighter needs to show their attention instead of looking around dazed with both hands on the ropes like Melly was. It is massively naive to think as a fighter it's up to the ref to get your attention instead of you showing it in the first place

Gotta judge the ending for what it was and not what other fights were. It was a very tough spot, about the toughest a ref could find themelves in. A badly hurt and depleted guy clearly not showing alertness or clear fitness to continue, with hardly any time left but still enough that maybe jusy maybe a final punch or two could land to seriously damage him further. A lot of people seem really personally stung by the ending but I can see the argument for it, as I can letting it go on.

Nothing tough at all. Let the final bell sound.. then Wed be talking about the crooked judging. Steele saved Julio in the Randall rematch too.

Yep, that's the official time made by someone after the fight's been called, official times are a bit delayed by a few seconds all the time. It has happened over and over and over. You can see rounds start, no breaks in them, a guy gets laid out and the ref stops it, then the official time is clearly a few seconds behind when the call actually was made. You can look at the clock and time the round yourself too if you don't believe me

Yep, here it is too, Steel already is waiving it off and shaking his head, and you can see JCC celebrating in the background. Time the round for yourself if you think that clock is wrong too--icnidentally it rolls for another few seconds after the fight is stopped, maybe to 2 lol
