Does anyone know how mikes health is? I read in boxing news that he has dementia. Inevitable really. I wish he'd have quit after Alvarez. True be told he'd gone on too long at that stage anyway

I noticed Darke mentioned during commentary that it was only a week before that another fight of the year candidate took place. Had to look it up, but it was Michael Brody-InJin Chi 1. Another brilliant fight, forgot they were so close together.

Gomez was interviewed by Jamie Moore, it's on you tube, Mikey didn't look or sound good

He was with Denzil Browne in Leeds before Denzil got remanded for murder. He’s out now though, so hopefully they can hook up again. Don’t know if Denzil will be at it until his son gets out.
Is his son Locked up?
Yes, he got four years for assisting an offender.

I'm sure if they had fought an immediate rematch there would have been no such smiling from Alex.
Just my thoughts, and not trying to detract from Gomez's performance, he fought his heart out that night and was the better man.

A classic, I think AA certainly wasn’t expecting the level of ferocity Gomez managed to bring that night, and was ambushed early & never really recovered. Tremendous heart by both, and the ref should have saved AA earlier - it was a sickening beating he took at the end.

I thought Arthur was being over hyped before he fought Gomez, but putting that aside. It was a great win for Gomez, who himself had to dig very deep to get the win.

Me neither he done great, was shocked at the time. Alex got wobbled off the first left hook that landed. I just know personally he was very very weight drained and it showed. Just my opinion. He wouldnt have not trained or slacked off just not that kind of guy.

Can remember sky over hyping him massive at the time , he would of been round about 10 fights into his career and they were bigging him up as if he was potentially elite level and could become a house hold name

Sad to hear that about Gomez. Very sad. Alex has been one of the lucky few boxers to get out with his health.

Was it Brodie vs Chi that was on around the same time as this fight - I remember there were 2 fight of the ages just weeks apart on Sky at this time.
