I don't really think he did myself but that was the talk of Greg Page Tony Tubbs and a few others that he bypassed them for guys like Scott Frank,Marvis Frazier etc.
Personally I think Holmes would fight anyone anywhere and except for a couple ,probably win.

Larry Holmes is still alive. Mike Tyson is still alive. James Toney is still alive. Round robin?

Well, yeah but they are not part of the current scene...Wilder, GGG, Canelo, Clarissa, Fury..thats the current scene...I think Larry Holmes is more classic now.

I’m just busting your balls. Mike Tyson is getting hyped to the max currently...Toney has also entered the fray. Why not Larry Holmes. They say the last thing to go is your jab.

I've always thought Holmes had one of the best all time jabs. He probably learned some of it at least as a sparring partner for Ali. Cooney was the hardest puncher according to George Foreman, so I can see why his body shots hurt LH. Like Ali and many do, Holmes stayed in the game too long.

BUT he did go away a bit more gracefully than Ali did....albeit getting knocked down by Butterbean...

I guess....since he didn’t develop Parkinson’s.....but other than that

Holmes fought until he was 52 and lost to Brian Nielsen and squeaked by Maurice Harris, and as stated was fighting guys like Butterbean at the end.

Ali retired for good at 39 and his last two fight were against an all-time great (Holmes) and a solid top ten guy for a decade in Berbick.

Oh I didnt mean it that way..Ali with parkinsons was far more graceful as a person than most without Parkinsons.

But ringwise..those two losses to Holmes and Berbick were horrible to watch. (specially the Holmes one!)

I was reading about Holmes, he was one of the first to realise after seeing how Ali who he sparred with many times in Ali's training camps before they fought ended up financially as well as physically.
Holmes attitude towards fights was that the risk has to be worth the rewards offered. He was not a coward but a sensible man and one of the few who got out both healthy and prosperous.

Foreman liked Cooney a lot better than he liked Lyle. Foreman and Lyle had bad blood. Foreman and Cooney were both involved in promoting their fight.

I never take boxer's takes on who did something the best, as it's merely a popularity contest.
