Morrison should have taken a knee vs Mercer. That would have saved him from getting absolutely obliterated in the corner. The last left hook was just vicious.

A guy will toughen up gradually , or some will just be tough from the word go ,, now we have all seen the guys who are naturally tough , and then its the skill level says where they will and won't go , but a person can be made tougher given you give them time and bring them along , Start them slow , make it light , and they will improve and get tougher without even knowing it , Not to say they will be boxer tough , but they will improve to there best ability

The "toughening" process happens imo when youve not long been in the gym and your over matched in sparring thats when u see if u want it or not

And get your whiskers tested

I remember my first spar. It was body only but against 3 different lads (1 minute each, one after another). They were novice ams but had a couple stone on me. I couldn’t believe how painful the body shots were though. It actually felt like my short ribs were bending right in to my lungs/kidneys. I don’t think they thought I’d come back after that, but 6 months later I was the only one of that lot who was still going to the gym.
The head shots I was not too bad with, I guess once you’ve had a couple jabs on the nose and you get used to the strange numb feeling and watering eyes, it gets easier 😂 I thought I had a good chin as I had taken loads of clumping shots to the head, until I was clipped in sparring with a counter left hook thrown over my lazy straight right. I immediately felt queasy, my vision fuzzed up and I found myself sat on the canvas. That was a rude awakening. He gave me a concussion. I jacked in the fighting after that. I had done it for 3 years, had a few bouts and that was good enough for me.

If you get past any level of taking a few punches in the mooiee without giving few in return... you could be a boxer.
