Ray Mercer knocked out former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia in seconds. That's doing pretty good I'd say.
There's really not too many other Boxers that have done well, and for the most part I can't imagine they would. Everybody just knows to take 'em down right away, and get 'em out of their comfort zone.
Personally, I'd like to see crossover matches between Boxers and MMA guys in a Kickboxing setting, but that's a different discussion.
Oddly enough Ray Mercer lasted 22 seconds against Remy in a kickboxing match, quitting instantly after taking a kick to the head. It was pretty embarrassing.

I'm not a particularly big fan of the guy, but I'd be rooting for him to knock somebody out in an MMA match just because it's cool to see Boxers do well in MMA.
Which boxers have done well in MMA?
Holly Holm has had the best MMA career by miles. Most of the boxers who have "done well" in MMA were lower level boxers who had at least some form of wrestling background like Marcus Davis, or Raphael Butler.

I'm not surprised. He's a Kickboxer.
I'm talking about MMA vs Boxer in a Kickboxing match. That way neither man is playing 100% to their strengths. That being said, I'd think the MMA guy would fare better in this environment more often than not.
Could still be an interesting idea that would sell tickets though. At least a few times.

I'm talking about MMA vs Boxer in a Kickboxing match. That way neither man is playing 100% to their strengths. That being said, I'd think the MMA guy would fare better in this environment more often than not.
Could still be an interesting idea that would sell tickets though. At least a few times.

I'd hope he's talking about Marcus, Marcus actually had modest success in both sports.
Conor had major success in one, and hell I guess major success in the other if you're talking money, but not wins.
That being said I'm sure Conor got paid more to lose to Mayweather than Marcus Davis made for all of his Boxing and MMA fights combined.

It hasn't always been 2020. Del Boy used to be extremely overrated on here. People thought he was a contender for a while...
I think it turned out at world level he was more hard to beat than likely to win

I saw someone on another forum suggest Jake Hager as an opponent. That strikes me as a fun fight, Chisora Vs a former WWE Champion. Though it'll probably just come down to whether Chisora can knock out Hager before he gets taken down.

That's a terrible fight for his debut, Hager has legit grappling skills as it was his impressive amateur wrestling career that got him his WWE career in the first place. Plus he's been training mma for a while now and already has a few wins. He'd take del boy down and tap him out in seconds.

It's probably a bad fight from Chisora's perspective (if he knows enough to realise it). From Bellator's perspective not so much. I somehow doubt that (win, lose or draw any fight) that Chisora's going to be with Bellator for the long haul. So, you get what you can from the situation. With Hager you get an easily sellable match and one in which the house fighter likely wins. Plus, if Hager does get sparked, well, he's a pro wrestler who's only had four fights. So, it doesn't hurt you in the way, say, Ryan Bader getting sparked would.

Dillian Whyte vs Derek Chisora in an MMA fight?
Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora settling their grudge in an MMA fight would
"create attention" and is something
"that people want to see", said promoter Eddie Hearn, but their priority remains a world title shot in the boxing ring.
Both heavyweights have insisted they would crossover from boxing into mixed martial arts - Whyte has challenged UFC contender Francis Ngannou and Chisora insists he has held talks with the Bellator organisation.
Asked if Whyte and Chisora could trade punches for a third time in a new sport, promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports:
"Why not?
"We should look at fights that create attention, that people want to see.
"Whyte vs Chisora in a cage? That's huge.
"But let's focus on boxing for now, and understand that we are working towards Whyte's world heavyweight title shot. That's what we are trying to do."
Whyte has twice defeated his rival Chisora, most recently by knockout. Whyte will next face Alexander Povetkin at a behind-closed-doors UK venue.
Whyte had previously told the UFC's Ngannou "don't talk about it, let's just do it" about a cross-codes match-up.
Hearn said:
"We had fun with Ngannou talking about a potential fight, and I spoke to [UFC president] Dana White about it. But everybody's focuses are on getting their own businesses back on track, for MMA and for boxing.
"But you can't ignore that Whyte vs Ngannou is a huge, huge fight.
"The priority for Whyte, and for us, is for him to get a shot at the world heavyweight title.
"I don't want to push MMA too hard so people say: 'What about the world heavyweight title?'
"[The world heavyweight title] is the priority.
"But I'd be lying if I didn't say I wouldn't be interested to see Whyte vs Ngannou - two huge knockout artists.
"People forget Whyte spent his early career kickboxing and in the cage doing MMA - this guy can do both.
"We'd be willing, against Ngannou, to do one fight in the cage and one in the ring. It would be massive.
"When I spoke to Dana White I said: 'Let me send you the numbers. I know you have plans to focus on the UFC business but let's look at this. It's big business'."
Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have agreed financial terms for two undisputed title fights in 2021 but Whyte should receive his mandatory shot at the WBC belt beforehand, Hearn explained.
Chisora is expected to next face Oleksandr Usyk but claimed he could compete for MMA organisation Bellator.
"I'm hungry, excited, some MMA fighters come to boxing so I want to be the one that goes to MMA, I want to knock some dudes out for fun," he told Sky Sports.
"Do an MMA fight, finish it quick, jog on and fight Usyk, knock him out then go home and celebrate."
