So maybe McCullough will last the distance in this bout. I would hate to see Wayne KO'd or taking another long beating like he did against Harrison..i hope he's competitive with the Mexican.

But anyways back to the fight.... I agree with those above who have already said that that McCullough should be calling it a day. He owes the game nothing and I think that the one sided beating he took from Harrison was a fight to far for him. He should be enjoying his life and his lifestyle while hes still capable of doing it, which too be honest might be in some jeopardy if he carries on fighting.

Yeah I guess new zealand and Australia must be part of England then.
Northern Ireland is 'british' not 'English' it makes up part of the british isles as it is part of the united kingdom's territories.

Incorrect my mucker. Great Britain exists alongside the United Kingdom.
The UK includes Scotland, England, Wales, N. Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Island.
Great Britain comprises soley of Wales, Scotland and England. Hence the saying Great Britain and N. Ireland.
And whoever said that just because Wayne McCullough is from the Shankhill he isnt Irish...b*llocks. He carried the Irish flag (the tricolour) into the Barcelona Olympic Stadium in 1992 leading out the Irish team and them subsequently won an Olympic Silver medal for Ireland. British? Dont think so.

They might as well do. After all, the english have to pay higher rates to subsidise other countries within the UK.

He was in the Irish olympic team because amateur boxing in northern ireland comes under the AIBA as boxing is an all Ireland sport much like Rugby and Hockey. McCullough never had the chance or choice to represent Britain.
Inorder to not alienate himself with either side of the community in northern ireland wayne never affiliates himself with either. However, he has said himself on his own website in answer to a question that if you are born in Northern Ireland you are automatically a british citizen.

If that isnt patriotic behaviour towards Ireland I dont know what is.

I don't think it really matters to be honest, in fact in people cared a little less or at least held less fervent views about this kind of stuff Northern Ireland might be a happier place.
My reading of it is Wayne is a British citizen (as he is from Northern Ireland) who fought for Ireland in the amateurs because Boxing is considered an All Ireland sport.
He was asked to carry the tricolour in the opening ceremony of the 1988 Olympics and he did so because he had no problems with it, not because he wanted to be associated with one stream of political thinking or the other. To be honest he was only 17 at the time and I think it was irresponsible and potentially inflammatory of the Irish Olympic Council to ask him to do that knowing that he was from the Shankill Road. It was putting him in a very difficult position and I think he dealt with it very maturely for a 17 year old.
In his pro career McCullough has appreciated support wherever it comes from be it Belfast, Dublin, London or in the U.S. He has always said that he fights for himself and his supporters and not for any flags.

It will cause a real shock should Wayne prevail, but unlike Eastman and Hatton to a lesser extent, McCulloch has not earned his shot at Larrios and has basically jumped the queue. When was his last decent win at Superbantam? I know this sort of thing counts for nish in boxing, but the traditionalist in me thinks it's unfair on the other rated Superbantams.
McCulloch should hear the final bell, but I can't see anything other than a one sided pounding. Wayne will have to fight like a man possessed just to make the match competitive, let alone win.
Larrios wins big, but good luck to Wayne anyway.

He looks like a big lightweight, fornicate he's built like a brick shithouse. If he moved up in weight, i bet he would be an even better fighter. he's probably losing some of his natural strength boiling down to featherweight.

I agree, if Harrison moved up to Super-Featherweight he would be a much better fighter.
