Why don't you rate Floyd better than Ray?
Better prime wins at welterweight for me. I also think Floyd only gripe is Leonard lost to blown up lightweight (fair point) and undefeated record.

Floyd doesn't have the quality of opponents to suggest that he was better than Leonard at WW.

As for the loss to Duran, Duran is one of the greatest fighters than ever lived, end of, and fought as high as MW, - the fornicator held his own with Hagler for christsakes.

There's a bunch of guys I'd have favoured or given a very good shot of beating Mayweather at WW
Leonard - Aside from defence, better than Mayweather in every department.
Armstrong - phenomenal engine - power in both hands, absolutely relentless in his prime
Hearns - Reach, boxing ability and power - this is the one guy I think may have actually given floyd a proper beating
Prime Mosley - the younger, faster version would have given Floyd far more problems.
Prime ODLH - even the past it version was doing very well - it would have been very tight, but Oscar would have had a great shot.

Floyd is an ATG, that's obvious, but that doesn't make him the greatest WW that ever lived.

Prime Mosley would have slaughtered Mayweather. But I can't see any version of ODLH beating Floyd.

Agree he's ATG but not the best welterweight ever or TBE.

That's a myth. How is that true, when:
1, Duran was at welter for two years, 8 fights BEFORE fighting Leonard.
2. He was naturally heavier than Leonard

I think both waxes him. Hearns might catch him within 8 rounds. Not a knock on Floyd, I just stylewise, he would have to at some point attempt to fight Hearns to win when he's down on points and that's where it could end. Either that or use his defense to lose a wide decision.

Floyd could lose to Hearns or SRR ,but he won't get "slaughtered," which is what I've been saying in response. All three are an elite level that makes it too hard to predict. to say 'stylewise' is a bit foolish. Floyd is an amazing fighter. What in his career shows you that Hearns would be able to outbox him in the first place?

Maybe the fact that hardly anyone has ever out boxed Hearns, especially below 154. The ones who beat him, either made a decision to fight him, or happened to catch him. I can't see Floyd doing neither. Doesn't mean he isn't amazing BOXER. Just means, he doesn't line up with what it takes to beat someone like Hearns.

Again, I'm addressing the comment made that Hearns and SRR would "slaughter" floyd. I don't see it that way.

Hearns was about the toughest fighter ever to outbox. That height, reach, speed, and elite jab/straight right were pretty much impossible to get the better of. The guy out-jabbed and out-boxed Virgil Hill at Lt. Heavyweight, for God's sake.

In order to beat him, you had to absorb the damage necessary (which is far easier said than done) to take him inside and turn it into a fire fight. Floyd didn't have the size, power, or combination punching Leonard possessed to make that route work for him.

Best case scenario is he loses a wide UD a la Benitez. Worst case is he goes for broke and gets KO'd.

He would. Again, not a knock on Floyd's greatness. Hearns also slaughtered Duran, who is just as great as Floyd.

Don't see a slaughter. If Floyd really is that totally outgunned he was still great enough defensively to see it out and lose a wide decision.

That's pretty much how I see it. I don't think Floyd would risk getting KO'd. It would be one sided, but I think he'd last the distance.

He could. But also, pride would kick in if he feels he's getting tagged and embarrased. I also can't see any reason that Hearns couldn't catch Floyd with the same right hand that Mosley did.
