Touched on this not that long ago.
It's a great match up, is it too early for Teo ?
That's the big question.
On one hand you don't want to rush him and on the other it's a little early but you never know,

Lopez has shown us impressive power. If Lopez wins it should be considered a huge achievement and upset.

Of course I favour Lomachenko as surely he has come across formidable punchers in his boxing career including in the amateurs.

Seems like things are changing real fast nowadays, everywhere. One minute the consensus was that it was too soon for Lopez to be for stepping in with the legend that is Lomachenko, but then after 2 fights (Campbell and Commey) the Swingometer seems to have now swung the other way.

Of course form matters, of course youth matters, but Lomachenko is far from finished. Let's keep in mind that so far they've both been operating on entirely different levels resume wise.

I'm expecting Lopez to get the most valuable boxing lesson of his life when they eventually meet. If Lopez doesn't get his heart broken, it will do him a ton of good for the future - as 'uncle Bob' will no doubt be hoping.
Spot on. It came out of nowhere.

Unless it's a close win for Loma we can expect more huge revisions afterwards.

Have a look what happened to Roman 'chocolatito' Gonzalez in recent years. He went from being touted as the No.1 P4P contender to being written off as finished after 2 fights.
Then a couple of wins later and he's back in contention once more for a possible P4P place.

It was even worse for Sergey Kovalev. Considered finished after losing to Eleider Alvarez, then back again after a successful rematch only to be considered finished again after losing to another Alvarez! Same goes for AJ, another loss and he's finished again!

The only opinions that stay even remotely constant in this sport are the widely held views that Muhammad Ali and Ray Robinson remain near the top.

Yet even they are not immune to revisionism are they?

Boxing fans always do that's the point. Maybe not you personal but someone will make the case that Lopez wasn't ready or Loma past his prime just watch!

Same, that's 2 of 3 votes. Loma fans are sensitive to shit that doesn't exist.

I try not to let shock subsequent events drastically change my opinions.

I still believe Mike Tyson was 2 (or maybe even 1) of all time.

GGG remains for me the best MW since Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

Tommy Hearns is still the most exciting boxer I've seen.

The only ones I still can't get a hang on was the failure of Roy Gumbs to make it big after looking so, so good, and the sudden shocking demise of Don Curry.

I still don't understand what exactly happened there, but nevertheless, at their best, they remain amongst the greatest boxers as far as I'm concerned.

Tyson wasn't top 2 of contemporaries. That's straight delusion.

GGG best middleweight since Hagler. Its your opinion but do really think he better than Roy Jones if we going by resume that can't be the case but if you based on opinion well anything goes.

Tyson #1 or #2 heavyweight questionable as well but I tell you base a lot of opinion on power or excitement as oppose to who they beat.

At the time I wrote my post the poll was even(ish) and also some of the above comments favoured Teo. That surprised me. I wasn't so surprised at Thatcher, if I recall correctly, he picked Campbell to beat Loma.

Of course I can't tell the future and I may be missing something, it's just there was no explanation as to why Teo beats Loma. Teo's had 10 fights, a lot of them by KO. I haven't seen enough of him as a fighter. Loma I have seen a few times on the buig time and I've been impressed. He seems to be superior in most area's compared with Teo, barring power, age and size.

I give Teo (at this stage in his career), a punchers chance but I don't think that will be enough. Of course the fun with these predictions is, no one knows.

Of course I don't mean to minimize the comments of people picking Teo, I just haven't understood why and there was not much of an explanation, in what I would consider an upset.

All Campbell over Loma :shame: If true much worse than Ohara over Taylor.

I've never thought loma was an other worldly fighter, especially at 35. Loss waiting to happen.

Campbell a very good opponent. I could barely split Campbell v Linares. I'd favour Campbell over Ryan Garcia, for example.

Fair enough. He's shown glimpses of vulnerability at the weight. Personally, I haven't seen enough but I understand your view. Let's see how it pans out if this fight is made.

Good OPPONENT yeah he has yet to beat anyone relevant lost all his meanningful. I don;t think he beat Garcia. He's not really better than Garcia in anything other than experience as we saw in Lopez-Commey sometimes that means nothing.

Because he looks like being on the verge of priming.
22 years old from Brooklyn with a 15-0 record holding the IBF Lightweight Title.
Plenty of reasons to pull back on Lomachenko at this point.

Campbell deserved like 4 rounds vs Loma, if Garcia is at another level to Campbell then surely he's not really far off Loma either. Lopez , Hanyey, and Tank all better than Garcia too
