That can't be accurate. 3,000 people out of 75million, with so many bars, clubs and restaurants closed (all in Wales/Scotland) or stayed away from? Ummm

Re: Viewing figures
Those figures just cannot be accurate, surely. A 3000 average. But the matchmaking on the FW shows has been pretty uninspiring really. If you've only got five slots, then stop putting prospects with good amateur experience in with journeyman, the public don't want to watch it. It serves very little purpose. FW has been signing fighters every week for the past six months, they need to fight each other, now.
Re: Viewing figures
Was really surprised Warren had journeymen on his televised bill, and not proper fights. They are irrelevant now, if a prospect wants to practise/needs experience then let him get it in the gym because it's not sport worthy of being televised.
There's a reason football clubs don't screen their training sessions.
Interesting that Sky let Virgin viewers watch the bill for free to on the Mix channel, and I wonder if that had an effect on the viewing figures. I only have BT Sport and not Sky but have to admit the Sky show was much better in terms of production and content.
Warren needs to have been more imaginative with his venue because a sterile TV studio looks....sterile!
He could have had all sorts - a hay barn, with chickens running about and gangster-looking charcaters sat on bales of straw. A dockside venue with ships in the backgroud, marlon brando stooges on motorbikes, at least have a bit of fun with it like Hearn has done.

Re: Viewing figures
FW should be super thankful he has a small piece of Tyson Fury. Tyson has done an amazing job of promoting himself in the last 2 years that FW hasn’t had to do much. Makes you wonder how important FW is though in promoting Tyson - it seems Top Rank and MTK/Daniel Kinahan are the more important players for negotiations.mickey1975 wrote: ↑02 Aug 2020, 22:08FW might have a little involvement in a game changer that f ucks Eddie and his business hard at heavyweight.JamieM wrote: ↑02 Aug 2020, 18:57 FW shows have been horrendous, even with the lockdown it takes alot to watch them, eddie is blowing him out the water. Re: Viewing figures
Whilst the 3,000 will almost certainly be incorrect, directionally it’s clearly not a good sign - especially compared with Sky’s numbers.Black Sam Bellamy wrote: ↑03 Aug 2020, 01:57 Those figures just cannot be accurate, surely. Frank’s shows have been a little too sterile (he seemed to want to be the first rather than be the best), have had too many prospect vs journeyman and predictable fights, have mainly had fighters that have had little promotion in the past (on the show on Friday the only fighter I’d seen previously - excluding Fidoe - was Arthur who I hadn’t been particularly bothered or impressed by his Commonwealth title win) and the shows themselves have received little promotion. None of my friends even knew there was a show on BT on Friday but the majority watched the Sky show. I also read a newspaper article over the weekend that referenced Hearn bringing boxing back to the U.K. - unfortunately demonstrated how poor of a job FW has done in promoting the shows.

Wonder where that guy gets the numbers tbh, although id expect the sky ones to be way better anyway 3k just seems hilariusly low, like you'd think even just having the fighters, trainers and some employees have all their friends and family watch cud evven get them near that, never mind any of the unconnected public

Re: Viewing figures
Unfortunately boxing has become a sport for casuals,in normal circumstances trade fights would get good viewings amongst the hardcore fans but as others have mentioned ,subscriptions will be cancelled and fans can't gather in eachothers houses to watch with a few beers either so I can't really see much future in these shows with no large live gates.

Re: Viewing figures
Matchroom and Hearn are simply a better promotional set up. Frank has had his day, not that he can't promote a show, but Hearn is chewing him up and spitting him out all over the shop.
It's suddenly a young mans game and Frank hasn't adapted anywhere near enough - Sticking with the same tired route that we all got pissed off with when he was running the show - Some posters on here have very short memories of those days.

Re: Viewing figures
Sky let Virgin viewers watch for free?? Wish I knew. If I was to add Sky Sports to my Virgin package it would be well over £100pm.... Gone are the days of four free channels and great fights from great fighters regularly on BBC and ITV. We have to struggle looking for illegal streams.veriton wrote: ↑03 Aug 2020, 02:11 Was really surprised Warren had journeymen on his televised bill, and not proper fights. Re: Viewing figures
Is he though? I know Hearn appeals more to the casual audience but Frank seems less reluctant to match his fighters together. Warrington v Frampton, Dubois v Gorman, Dubois v Joyce etc.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑03 Aug 2020, 03:40 Matchroom and Hearn are simply a better promotional set up. Saunders was a 2 weight champ under FW and then went to Hearn to fight on the undercard of 2 youtubers.
This little partnership with Arum has been good for Frank too. Got arguably the 2 best fighters in Britain (Fury and Taylor) fighting on BT now.

Re: Viewing figures
And early viewing figures suggest an average of 93,000 fans tuned in on Saturday night with a peak audience of 202,000.
Re: Viewing figures
This one was free, dont know if next ones will be. I threated to ditch virgin and got 200mg line plus bt sport for 49 quid a month. dont think it will be long before all of them are available on roku etc, which we use instead of the virgin box anyway. once the bt sport and sky sports apps go on there there is no need for virgin except the broadband line.coghaugen11 wrote: ↑03 Aug 2020, 04:09Sky let Virgin viewers watch for free?? Yeh, let's not forget, you don't need a Sky Sports subscription to have watched Egg vs. Cheese as it was on Sky Sports Mix.

Thing with Oscar and Floyd was they tapped into certain markets - Oscar the US-based Hispanics and Floyd the US Hip Hop industry. That's where their buys came from. The casual regular still didn't really care, and still doesn't.
In Britain we don't have those markets, Latinos or Hip Hop mofos etc. We do have football fans/hooligans though, that should be our trick. The normal person isn't into boxing outside a once in a bluemoon Haye or AJ event. It's considered weird and always will be, more now than ever. Tap into your glory football sides fanbase then! Take Hatton's lead.

Re: Viewing figures
Fury used mental health as a master marketing trick, all a load of bollocks but more than 1 in 4 actually do suffer so that was smart, that's 20+mill right there potentially and more in US.
Re: Viewing figures
I'm guessing lyndon arthur (menacing ethnic street thug) against dec spelman (weirdly tattooed scaffolder) isn't really going to capture much of the public's imagination even if it was a good trade fight. what are their selling points?

The first allegedly show failed to get into the top 15 for BT for the week by the looks of BARB which is a worry... Not sure if BARB is peak or average but or is a worry all the same

Hahaha! Missed this one. Which fight was it, cause Lopez hasn't fought recently?Delta Jay wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 06:25Might have been the last Teofimo Lopez fight, the ostensibly white cornerman said the N word a couple of times and the commentary went silent for a minute then apologised for the “extremely” bad language. Amazing

Here it is at 8:23 or so, he’s apparently a Honduran New Yorker and he says it once, not a few times like I said.
And here is Andre “Squeeky Clean” Ward’s reaction. To be fair I totally agree with him:
I’ve seen Puerto Ricans from NYC say it, or heard it in rap songs by non-black New Yorker’s otherwise. No idea mate, really not the kind of thing I can weigh in on.
